Hello. I recently upgraded to a gigabit network for my home. Dlink DIR-655 router, Dlink DGE-530T PCI gigabit adapter on each PC. Windows 7 x64 on all PC's. Cat5e cable, 20 ft the longest run. Latest drivers for PCI adapters. Windows report 1Gbps connections.

When transferring files between PC's, I get 20-23MB/s average transfer rate. It is faster than 100mbps, but I was really expecting to get at least 40-50MB/s.

Is the speed I am getting normal? I know for sure the hard drives on PC's are not the problem, because I can get 70MB/s or more when transferring to a USB 3.0 external hard drive.
