There's something I'd like to say - Veterans

It's something that seems so small to say, but there's a lot of meaning behind this.

    Thank you.

If it wasn't for you veterans, nobody here would have the rights and freedoms that we do now. After all, it was not the politicians that gave us our nation and her safety and prosperity - it was you. It wasn't the lawyers who defended our rights and gave us the knowledge that those rights would be protected as long as our nation stands - it was you. It wasn't the preacher who gave us freedom of religion, the journalist who gave us freedom of the press, or the protestor who gave us freedom of speech - it was you. From the colonial minutemen, to the soldiers who fought their brothers in the civil war, to the soldiers who stormed the beaches of Normandy and the soldiers who gave their lives throughout history, as well as those who survived and honorably served - it was you who gave this nation everything that makes her great, and it is you who will defend this nation for as long as we stand.

    Thank you.

A Veteran is someone who at one point in their life wrote a blank check payable to the United States of America for an amount up to and including their life.

Fewer and fewer of these vets left, had the pleasure of flying with a B-17 door gunner back in September on the Liberty Belle B-17. These guys were the real deal. Without them who knows how things would have turned in WWII.

Many thanks to all vets out there from a grateful fellow vet.

    I'll share a positive story I heard.

Listening to the Kidd Kraddick In The Morning show the other day. They had played an old clip about this woman they did a stupid, pointless bit with, wasn't meant to be anything more. After it was over a staff member of the show asked if she needed anything and she said that she needed a kidney.

She didn't seriously expect a kidney, but a soldier who was home from Afghanistan or Iraq heard it and offered his. He was a match so they are going through with this(or have already, my time frame could be off), and then after he recovers hes heading back over there.

Dude gets some free time to spend with family and friends and decides to rest by giving away a kidney.

I saw on some war show that ww2 vets are dying at an average of 200 per week. Going to be a sad day when no ww2 vets around anymore.
