Weird ipconfig information from a wireless network card

Hi there,

I'm on my father-in-law's laptop right now, because he mentioned that
the wireless network card wasn't working. I eventually got it to work
and am able to access the Internet, etc. with it (which is what I'm
doing now), but there's one really odd quirk that I noticed in the
ipconfig:

The question marks associated with the lease date are what shows up in
the ipconfig output...they're not what I typed in at all.

I can't seem to do a Google search on five question marks to find
anything out of use, so I'm wondering what could have caused this, and
is it a possible early sign of a failing NIC? Other computers connect
to the router fine and don't give me this message.

My IPCONFIG always shows the lease (whatever that is) dated today
and expiring today. It makes no difference to how the network runs
(wireless, with marginal reception quality, so that it occasionally
fails completely: no indicator of this in IPCONFIG has yet been noticed.)

I'd *guess* that the question marks should refer to the names of a month and
am/pm, and that it is trying to display these according to the current
locale settings. In which case I'd check the locale settings as it may be
that something is amis with the date formats which are set there.

Don't think its a reflection on the NIC, just something mis-configured in
windows.
