Professor's 13 Keys Predict Obama Will Get Re-Elected

Never mind that President Barack Obama's job approval ratings can't break the 50 percent mark. Or that the tea party movement owes its very existence to a rising tide of anti-Obama fervor. Or even that the next presidential election is 28 months away.

Obama, says a previously prescient professor, already holds the keys to another four years in the White House.

American University history professor Allan Lichtman said Monday that according to his "13 Keys" formula, which predicts popular vote based on party performance instead of polls or campaign tactics, Obama is headed for a second term.

While former Republican House speaker and possible presidential contender Newt Gingrich has predicted that Obama has just a 20 percent chance of winning in 2012, Lichtman said that "nothing that a candidate has said or done during a campaign, when the public discounts everything as political, has changed his prospects at the polls. Debates, advertising, television appearances, news coverage and campaign strategies -- the usual grist for the punditry mills -- count for virtually nothing on Election Day."

In an interview with AOL News, Lichtman said he devised his formula after studying election outcomes from 1860 to 1980 and has correctly predicted the outcomes of the last seven presidential contests. "No other system has come close to that record," he said.

The 2012 elections, no matter who gets elected, should be, at least, entertaining.

Oh he'll get re elected, but it won't be by the people. Then all hell is going to break loose because then everyone will realize that their votes don't matter.

Bush got reelected with lousy rating so it's been proven it can happen. Lot can happen between now and then though.

He'll appear to look more conservative towards 2012 and try to fool us into believing that he loves America.

Politicians spin all the time. Bush was great at it himself.

I'll have to check and see what Bush's rating was when he got re-elected.

Ya all those liberal moments he had... hmmmm no. And Bush never really spun stuff, he took the "do something stupid and confuse them" approach.

Shoot, Bush spun stuff all the time. Remember when his Administration said our soldiers would be greated as liberators in Iraq? Plenty of more where that came from also.

As I understand it, this prediction is not based off how good at spinning the man is.

Allan Lichtman said Monday that according to his "13 Keys" formula, which predicts popular vote based on party performance instead of polls or campaign tactics,
If Allan Lichtman is right, in the way people vote, then that would mean many have underestimated the American people. I think the "masses" in general deserve more credit then some give them. They may not be as easy to beguile, as some seem to think.

Obama has been in the back pocket of the neocons for some time now. Good lord man...look at his track record on terrorism, war, domestic spying, homeland security, globalization, off-shore drilling...the man is practically Bush III. Add in the fact that he bailed out the capitalists up on Wall Street after it crashed and that should be proof enough that he's in bed with them.

I'll go as far to say that YOU should NOT want him ousted. He's done more for the GOP than the GOP has done for itself since he was elected.

His re-election will be decided this fall. If the Republicans gain enough strength in Congress to be able to stop his agenda, then he'll have no choice but to move more to the Center and then try trick people that he's really not that liberal, like he did during his initial campaign. Will be easier to fool the people then when he doesn't have the power to do what he wants.

If the Democrats retain control this November, then he's definitely gone in 2012 since he'll have 2 more years to push what he wants, when he wants, and if you think people are pissed now, just give them 2 more years of an unchecked Obama.

    hey I got a question:

How come we choose from just two people to run for president and over fifty for Miss America ?

Read that in an interesting email.. now I dont know about you, but im so sick and tired of voting for the same 2 unqualified idiots that happen to be running for office.

But this isn't about what he's done for the GOP/Conservatives but about what he's done to the country as a whole. Failed stimulus, crooked healthcare bill that nobody wanted, apologizing all over the globe for America...etc. People had him hailed as the one that would change Washington politics, to be above race but he's been none of that. This country will be better without him in the White House, but for now, we need to make sure that we render him useless this coming November.

Well I don't plan to vote for him based on his amassing of power (unitary executive). But at the same time, what has the GOP done to earn any votes? When will the GOP start offering viable alternatives?

Neither party at this point is worth voting for. The Repubs are posturing to take control (and they have no idea what to do when they get it) while the Dems are pushing off things like the budget until after elections so they can vote on them (lame duck) knowing they will or will not be re-elected.
