That would depend on the universal remote you buy.

    What isn't working?

Reason I ask is last week my DVD remote quit working. I tried a dozen batteries but the only thing the remote would do was change the TV channel. Every other button quit working.

Finally I unplugged the DVD player, hit the power button to discharge it, plugged it back in, and everything worked fine.

Might want to give that a try before buying a new remote.

I'm going to try that with a TV. I can't raise the volume with TWO different remotes.

I have a different problem. My remote control retrievers have all grown up.

Dish and Direct both have sites to look up codes for TV's or devices... here is Directs:

    http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global...0036#h:620.229

    Here is Dish's:

    http://tech.dishnetwork.com/departme...o5.3Code.shtml

I do know that with Dish you can hold down the "TV" button till it starts blinking and then hit the TV power button. It will then make that TV button stop blinking and at that point each time you hit Channel down it will test a different code so just keep hitting it till your TV turns off and then hit the # button to lock it in

Ohh and nice new Avatar you have there... where did ya get it?
