This storm woke me up Tuesday night

Southern Westchester hail storm: 'Like a freight train'

YONKERS - Marble-sized ice balls packed in violent winds were part of a surprisingly destructive midnight lightning storm that left a mess across southern Westchester County yesterday.

As the bulk of the recovery effort focused on restoring power to thousands by dinnertime and opening scores of closed roads, meteorologists from the National Weather Service hit the ground in the worst-hit areas to determine whether a tornado was partly responsible for all the damage...

I could not believe what it looked like outside when I opened up my door. People had just put out their recycle items for a.m. pickup and that stuff was all over the place.

They say “Marble-sized” and you say “size of golf balls?”, so which is it? That’s a pretty big difference. Hail may be uncommon your area but it blows out windshields quite often here. I seen reports of it on the news this morning.

I've been in a storm like that Debbie. (golf ball size hail.) It's not pretty. And talk about LOUD!! Was years ago when I was in my early teens. Everything outside was either severly damaged or destroyed. Cars with all sorts of major hail damage, busted out windows and house siding a complete mess. Tree's that are so bare you would think it's winter time. Even a few dead birds.

I've seen dime size hail that would cause alot of damage..I wouldn't want it that's for sure cause even those the size of pea's will cause damage.

grew up in the midwest. iowa and missouri. have been in my fair share of bad t-storms/tornados. seen golf-ball sized but never the baseball-sized stuff.

if you dont mind the trunk/roof/hood being dimpled like a golfballl, this is the time to get a great deal on a new car
