Post Unable to get to Speedguide in the evenings

Has anyone else been having problems getting in to the weg site in the evenings ot during peak times? For the past two days I have had to wait a long time just to get to the home page and I have been getting internal server
errors when trying to go to a forum.
I have tried on to different puters at two different addresses. I don't think its me but it could be...

I can't access this site from my home computer. Only from 'work'. My home computer freezes ie5 whenever I come to this site. It's wierd because this is the only site it's done it to.

    Thanks for the update John!
I am sure you all are doing the best you can to offer the service you offer. I appreciate your work. I was mainly concerned with my end. I had been trying some new ideas with reg settings and I thought a had a problem.
I was just curious to see if others were having the smae problem...I'm chilled...thanks

think of it this way --- can a 486 (33 sx) run a quake 3 arena server w/ lets say 64 ppl playing? HHEECK no.. well the server they have running now is prolly nice and all and not a 486 but they also have THOUSANDS of requests coming in at any one time.. and it can't handle it all -- not many servers (cept like huge servers for huge corps. can) can handle that.. shrug

I have the same problem with IE freezing when trying to go directly to this site. I have to use the bulletin board section to get in. I am going to do a new install of my favorite os (courtesy of my friends at Speedguide) soon to see if it solves the problem.

I've never had a problem going to this site. Always loaded quickly on my Cable (You heard me right, CABLE) modem. I personally prefer cable because it's cheaper, and has about the same speed (Can reach higher speeds, but it's inconsistent, and usually doesn't).
    I still think it's efficient.

If you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail!!
Now how can I get my cable to run at optimum speed?

Chill out man! Philip is working on our new server which is going to kick ass! I couldn't get to speedguide yesterday either- I know it sucks. There are some problems with the main pages of speedguide for some people, for Some reason. We don't know why, ask philip he does the coding. We are working to try and keep everyone happy and the site up- we aren't as perfect as your ISP.

I had the same problem with IE freezing. Here's what I did to fix it. I want to ADD/REMOVE programs in control panel. I then highlighted on IE 5 and clicked remove. It them gave me a number of choices. One of the options was to repair IE, I choose that. It seems to have worked, it havsn't froze on speedguide.net since.

The site was overloaded Wednesday and Thursday evening, it's the Forums CGIs that overload the CPU, not a bandwidth problem. We're in the process of setting up a second server just for the UBB, it will be functional soon and it should take care of slowdowns at peak times. Sorry about the inconvenience, we're working on it.
