    Hello from Windows 7 RC1 Build 7100 x64

    Desktop

I have to say, this Release Candidate is solid, very solid. It feels complete and I could run off of this without even needing to install the Gold version when it is out, it feels that solid right now. I am running it as my primary OS now on my main machine and every application works great with it, no problems at all to report.

Now I know the world is coming to an end soon. Microsoft actually put together an apparently stable OS.

Granted, it is based off of Vista, so you could say Vista was the Beta stage, heh.

Now that developers have had time with the software and creating drivers and such that work well with Vista, that has translated over to Win7 I would think.

The facts are though that Win7 is shaping up to be a good OS from MS, and one could say Win7 is what Vista shoulda been/was supposed to be.

I haven't seen an RC build from MS this stable since Windows XP or 2000 to be honest.

Build 7100 is even better and now officially takes it out of the Beta stage and into RC land.

Yeah been out riding 4 wheelers today..but finished loading it and looking at it myself.

Remember that its a "Leaked" RC and the official public RC should release around May 5th.

Its not completed from testing results as in regards to memory it seems to utilize in a very odd way.

2Gigs operate better on Win7 (prior RC build) than 6Gigs on Vista (64bit version of course)

The higher in memory you go with Win7 it seems to drop in performance which goes to show that's its still not finished as in missing alot of optimizations. However it does indeed look as if MS learned something from Windows ME...I mean Vista, and have got a good OS on the block for release later this year.

Ohh did I mention they are already hiring for Windows 8 now?

Definitely have to give credit to MS. They really look like they hit a homerun with this OS.

Win7 now has a 100% WinXP compatibility mode. Ga-ron-teed. That's going to score big with business/enterprise users.

Its obviously in MS's best interest to pump Win7 out before August...this will ensure all new PC's will get sold with it vs Vista. They just need to stop selling Vista at that point and perhaps only support it for another 3 years.

I'm holding off lookin for a new comp for my parents cause I'm waiting on Win7 to release.
