I would say it varies from state to state or in some circumstances city to city.
I've been seeing many numbers thrown out there in the media and I'm just curious as to what you all feel is the income level of an individual in the lower middle class.
Don't go by official stats....just post what you think it is.
TIA

I say it's around $40k.
$30k

40k around here sounds about right.
$35,000
People will forget what you said... and people will forget what you did... but people will never forget how you made them feel.
Per person I would say in the low 30's here.

Ok...so the figure I see thrown around and hear about on TV and radio is $125,000. $125k is considered by many to be lower middle income.
Obviously you can the see the disparity between perception and reality.
I wish I made half that. I make a quarter of that and feel I'm rich lol.
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, and prejudices to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own for the children and the children yet unborn and the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.
I actually agree with you.
I'm a Firefighter/Paramedic and our salary is obviously paid for each locality. Usually our pay is based on the cost of living in that locality, not a high paying job but enough to live reasonably with a decent house in a decent area. Our salaries are public record so anyone can see what we make, I don't know of many municipalities that pay their Fire/Police/EMS $125K a year, I think that amount is way too high. It goes to show what our tax laws are based upon.

40K around here for a house hold cause I figure they are looking at families not individuals.
I live in Vancouver,WA and a 2 bedroom apartment (1000sqft) goes for about $750....but in Colfax,WA you can get the same size apartment for about $200.
I think it's tough to measure what is low income.
Are you married with kids?
Do you have 3 dogs, horses?
Do you live outside your means?
If I made $30,000 a year and was single I'd be fine and not low income but middle/low.
$20,000 or less (to me) is getting into the low income range.
Nutty like squirrel terds!!!
the sad part of it the millatry is poor they avg less than 30k a yr for the enlisted.
