    Router to Router connection problem

I am trying to set up the following.

Router A = Domestic wireless 6 port router connected to a satelite internet gateway.

Router B = Domestic Wireless 4 port router.

I have configured router B with DHCP off, Lan IP different from Router A, Static IP outside of Router A's DHCP range and Gateway set to Router A.

This set up is working fine over a short (3m) Cat 5 cable but as soon as I use a longer cable I get no internet connection although if I plug the cable straight into a Laptop I get on the internet with no problem at all.

I have tried to use a 90m cat 5 cable to connect the two routers although I thought the 100m limit might be causing the problem so I tried the same setup with a 20m cable however this did not sort it out either.

As I previously stated everything works fine on a 3 meter cable so can somebody have a guess as to what the problem might be?

You're basically using router B to extend the wireless range?

If so, say router A has a LAN IP of 192.168.0.1
Set the LAN IP of router B to 192.168.0.2 or 192.168.0.245..something like that
    Disable DHCP on router B
No need to enter gateway info on router B
Uplink router B to router A by connecting to router B using one of the LAN ports, you don't use the WAN/Internet port of router B...this way you're just using router B as an access point.

Ok I see how that would work, I will try that set up later but I must ask - If it is connected using a LAN port rather than WAN/Internet will I still be able to connect through it using wireless or will I only be able to connect other computers through the LAN ports?

Also I am very curious to know why I get a Net connection through another PC by pluging the long (90m) cable direct but cant get a net connection with the router when it is plugged in even though it works no problem on a short cable with out changing any settings?? Do you have any thoughts on this?

Thanks very much for your advice.

Your entire network is on the same IP range when setup on a LAN port..so yes they all have the ability to see/work with each other if you're setup your computers networking properly.
