    TCP Chimney Offload Question

TCP Chimney Offload is disabled by default for me(I'm using windows vista ultimate), and I was wondering if enabling it would cause any problems with my NICs TCP/IP Offloading options.

    NIC: Intel® PRO/1000 PT.

According to this article ( http://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=2574 ), the TCP Chimney Offload is enabled by default and they recommend you leave it enabled. Just read this article, and it explains it for you.. Hope this helps.

Like I said, it's disabled by default(Not sure why). I currently have it enabled, and I haven't experienced any issues yet.

I agree. I also had it disabled. All the values just seemed really odd in my machine. No idea are these the defaults for vista x64 sp1, as i just recently moved to 64bit.

Heres backup of the values before tweaks:

    TCP Global Parameters
    ----------------------------------------------
    Receive-Side Scaling State : enabled
    Chimney Offload State : disabled
Receive Window Auto-Tuning Level : highlyrestricted
Add-On Congestion Control Provider : none
    ECN Capability : disabled
    RFC 1323 Timestamps : disabled
