US Rebate Checks -spend them wiesly

The federal government is sending each of us a $600 rebate.
If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, the money will go to China,
if we spend it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs,
if we purchase a computer it will go to India,
if we purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico , Honduras , and Guatemala,
if we purchase a good car it will go to Japan,
if we purchase useless crap it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help the
    American economy.
The only way to keep that money here at home is to buy prostitutes, beer and
cigarettes, since these are the only products still produced in the US .

Even better, They automatically deduct that from your return next year. Everyone should make a pact not to buy anything from China. Save the money, From what I have been seeing the west coast of the U.S. may have a massive earthquake very soon. We all know that such a massive disaster like that would tank our economy right now so be smart with your money.

    nope

Will I have to pay it back?

    No. And here's why.

Your stimulus payment is a one-time tax cut - an advance on a credit you'll receive on your 2008 return. You will not owe tax on your payment when you file your 2008 tax return, and it will not increase the amount you owe or reduce your 2008 refund.

The stimulus payment is based on your 2007 income initially. If it turns out that your 2008 income and number of children would have qualified you for a larger rebate than the one you received, you'll be sent the difference. If it turns out your 2008 income was lower than in 2007 and you should have gotten a lower rebate, you get to keep the difference.

As I asked in the other thread, explain how that works.

If its an advance then that means its taken from next years return, so if you didn't get that advance, wouldn't you have that much more next year?

If I get an advance on a paycheck, I don't still get the same money when the paycheck comes around.

From what I've read it's an advance on a credit for next year....you're just losing the ability to claim the credit. I've read very little on it.

I hope I get one so I can not cash it, as it's the only way to possibly gain anything from this whole economic mess.
