    Windows defrag dilemma

I save and deleat mega gigs of of movies from cable and net to watch later.
Problem is it also creates mega frags which makes defrag sessions far outlast my patients and some times stalls out alltogeather

Question is does it create any known problems such as lost or permenint hidden frags in data or system files if you stop the all to useless
Windows defrager in the middle of a session and continue it later?

And ya I do have an aftermarket defrager, just not one I'm very happy with, and hear not good for system stability to use more than one.

    No problems.
You defrag in safe mode right? Much better job, and quicker.

Yes, usually do defrag in safe mode unless I dont my usual ammount, but have to admit occosanily I'm a lil lazy about switching over or space it out.

I know patients is a virtue (one Im blessed with very lil at times) but theres a lot to be said for just kicking ass and getting it overwith to.

Just takes longer at one time movening around a stack of 4 or 500mb files with up to 1500 frags in each, sifting through da 230g I got of em than I want to sit through and wanted to make sure I wasnt throwing my system down a well from my impatients.

Not that I could have done anything about it excapt get on meds I guess , lol

I'm with you on the patience issue. Which is why I turn off screen saver and power saver, start defrag, turn off moniter, then go to bed. Let it run all night and there you go!

This is the most excellent defragger out there IMO.

I use this vb script by MVP Doug Knox..
    http://www.dougknox.com/utility/scri...defrag_all.htm

It defrags all of your hard drives in a row, using cmd line,
and it is faster then using the Windows Defrag gui app.
