    Help me tweak ^^!!

    SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer

    TCP properties for IP = 221.121.33.1 (221.121.33.1)
    Browser/OS = Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.12) Gecko/20080201 Dealio Toolbar 3.1 Firefox/2.0.0.12
Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address.
    TCP options string = 020405640103030001010402
    MTU = 1420
MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput. If you are using a router, it could be limiting your MTU regardless of Registry settings.
    MSS = 1380
MSS is not optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU value.
Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 1380
    RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 1380

RWIN seems to be set to a very small number. If you're on a broadband connection, consider using a larger value.
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
    507840 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 8)
    253920 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 4)
    126960 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 2)
    63480 (MSS x 46)
bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

    Your TCP Window limits you to: 55 kbps (7 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
    Your TCP Window limits you to: 22 kbps (3 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.
    MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 43 hops
    TTL value is ok.
    Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
    Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
    IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0)

Seems a few cases of stuck TCP Window.

First try using WinSockFix to see if TCP Window can be unstuck.

If that does not work, and OS is XP SP2, use Cablenut and enter the desired TCP Window value to the field DefaultReceiveWindow.

Let's check your signal by doing a tracert yahoo.com

I think your modem's firmware should be updated.

To do a tracert, click 'Start' and then 'Run'. Type "cmd" into the box and click 'ok'.

A DOS black screen will appear. Type after the C:\>

    tracert www.yahoo.com

    and press enter key

When test is completed, move mouse cursor to the DOS black screen, click right and choose 'select all'.

Move mouse cursor to the Quick Reply box of this forum, click right and 'paste'.

Ping times at your modem in hop 2 are higher than those in hop 3.

Search Google and use the following to clean up your comp:

    CCleaner
    AVG antispyware
    SpyBot
    Ad-Aware 2007

Then log into your router and set MTU or MRU to 1500. If it has a setting for MSS, set it to 1460. Save and reboot your router.

Thereafter, try the following with TCP Optimizer:

    General Settings tab:
    Custom settings - check
Modify All Network Adapters - check
network adapter selection - your NIC
    MTU - 1500
    TTL - 64
TCP Receive Window - leave blank
    MTU Discovery - Yes
    Black Hole Detect - No
    Selective Acks - Yes
    Max Duplicate ACKs - 2
    TCP 1323 Options:
    Windows Scaling - checked
    Timestamps - uncheck

    Advanced Settings tab:
Max Connections per Server - 10
    Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 10
    LocalPriority - 1
    Host Priority - 1
    DNSPriority - 1
    NetbtPriority - 1
    Lan Browsing speedup - optimized
    QoS: NonBestEffortLimit - 0
    ToS: DisableUserTOSSetting - 0
    ToS: DefaultTOSValue - 80
    MaxNegativeCacheTtl - 0
    NetFailureCacheTime - 0
    NegativeSOACache Time - 0
LAN Request Buffer Size - 32768
Then select "Apply Changes" and reboot to take effect

After reboot, post a new TCP Analyzer report.

ZyXEL Prestige 600 is a modem with a built-in router.
