    Was it, buffer underun?

What was it you were burning? For instance, cdrom to cdrw? Converting mp3 to music cd's?

Were you doing something else while burning?
If so, don't run any apps, or surf. Just let the burner do its thing. See if that helps.

You may have to make your cd from an image,or from wav files to take advantage of your higher burn rates. That in and of itself isn't a bad thing, just an extra step.

    Post cd_Rw probs!

I just got a cd-rw for christmas! its a "creative labs CD-rw 8432" i have it installed and everything works great at 6x speed...but when i kick it up to 8x (which is its maximum at CD-r) it comes with a problem. It says something about my buffers not being up to snuff or somthing! How do i get my buffers to work better so that i can burn at 8x? oh yeah..im using NERO burning software that came with the hardware..if that has anything to do with it...thanks for the help and have a great newyears!

Were the cd's that you used capable of 8x write?
