    i used windows xp, isp is verizon dsl 3mb down 700~ up. my router is linksys wrt54gs. before the reformat i was getting well over 2000kbs down, now its about 800kbs according to speedtest.net

    Try the following with TCP Optimizer:

    General Settings tab:
    Custom settings - check
    Modify All Network Adapters - check
    network adapter selection - your NIC
    MTU 1500
    TTL - 64
    TCP Receive Window - 128480
    MTU Discovery - Yes
    Black Hole Detect - No
    Selective Acks - Yes
    Max Duplicate ACKs - 2
    TCP 1323 Options:
    Windows Scaling - check
    Timestamps - uncheck

    Advanced Settings tab:
    Max Connections per Server - 10
    Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 20
    LocalPriority - 1
    Host Priority - 1
    DNSPriority - 1
    NetbtPriority - 1
    Lan Browsing speedup - optimized
    QoS: NonBestEffortLimit - 0
    ToS: DisableUserTOSSetting - 0
    ToS: DefaultTOSValue - 80
    MaxNegativeCacheTtl - 0
    NetFailureCacheTime - 0
    NegativeSOACache Time - 0
    LAN Request Buffer Size - 32768
    Then select "Apply Changes" and reboot to take effect

    doesnt seem to have helped with that part, i recently formatted my computer is there anything anyone can think of that i missed?

    Try OPtimizer Settings what I gave , Change TCP Receive Window to 32120

    even slower speeds?

    hop 2 is higher than usual . Make sure that your router and modem put in some place that are a few feet away from ALL other electrical devices, including apart from each other.Also, make sure you do not coil up any excess length of signal or power cables.

    When done , set the TCP Receive Window to 64240 then restart comp !

    fix'd, physical thing. i need to get the verizon people out here and replace my outlet.
    thank you, just wanted to stay updated. my speeds are back to normal
