They're certainly doing a good job.

Even I feel like buying a Mac now.

Yeah...I can't imagine working on those.....after working on Dell and Lenovo X series (their ultra portable line)....just 2 days ago replaced the sys board and keyboard on a Dell X300. Man...I went crosseyed for an hour.

Once you get as small as this YApple..can't be very serviceable....on top of that...I imagine it's not very durable either. Not much room for a strong chassis, especially the hinge area for the lid.

I did a Alien Ware sys board swap before xmas...and I thought I'd end up having to do it over again.. took me another 30mins of staring at it fully assembled to remember to change the bios to detect the damn HDD!

But yeah I know what you mean..at least the Dell models are somewhat easy to replace.

From a technology standpoint this is pretty baddass, technology has definitely gotten smaller. But by gimping it on several features that are needed on a laptop (no optical drive, no replaceable battery, no ethernet, slow hard drive, only one usb port, no firewire) functionally it is deficient. But really nice try and proof of concept, I hope others figure out how to make laptops thinner but full of features at the same time.

And I thought my Sony Vaio SZ is thin @ 1"-1.5", 4lbs... At least it has a DVD±RW, lol.
Linux is user friendly, it's just picky about its friends...

Agreed, it looks pretty but it's not very impressive. Maybe if it had tablet capability or something.

You can get it with a 64G solid state hard drive.

Pricewise that's not bad though...Ultra Portables normally don't come with optical drives, not an abundance of ports..usually just a USB port, and a lower rpm hard drive for longer battery life (usually 6-7.5 hours). Lenovo X series, and Dells X series for example...huge numbers of them in corporate fleets. A whisker under $2K in price is averagae. Not really designed for the home users and multi-media stuff..but for people who work out in the field...for example, home visiting nurses, staff in nursing homes, people who just need access to a few basic apps, some portable database which synchs up across the network when they return to the office, or through a VPN tunnel from home or out in the field.

Granted though..lack of NIC, and lack of being able to swap batteries in the middle of the afternoon to complete working for an 8 hour workday..is a bummer. But..being an Apple..I don't see this being popular in the business environment anyways.
