News reports indicate it was a pipe bomb or at least looked like one.

I can't seem to find much more out but it was found in the bed of the pickup. I wonder if it was in plain sight?

Also the plant is on their lowest level lockdown so I don't really think that this was a "close" disaster.

The explosive device was described as a small capped pipe that contained suspicious residue, according Capt. Paul Chagolla with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
...oh boy ..residue......according the story there was NO effort to conceal it as he drove in.....another non-story......I s'pose I should be thanking our governments response post 9/11, eh?

Unless he got into the core itself, a pipe bomb would have done little more then blow some paper around.

Even if he did get into the core, a pipe bomb would have to be big enough to blow out the water in the tanks. Good luck with that one.

It should definitely be a part of Security 101, but you know as much as I do that at some point in the next week the President will likely find a way to spin it based on intel collected through the Patriot Act.

I should add that at this point, at least a couple of news articles are indicating that so far, nothing is being said if the device was even capable of being detonated.

Maybe it was his kids "green pipe". That would explain the residue.
