    Post Memory Managers?

I'm trying to upgrade my uncles BIOS on his Hewlett Packard 4550z. I DLed the new BIOS, created a startip disk...copied the new BIOS on to it. But when i reboot, and go to install the BIOS--the BIOS untility says "can not install BIOS with memory managers running". What are these things, and how can i shut them off (if at all) so i can install the new BIOS?

Well I have always flashed my bios right off the hard drive. What I do is make a temp folder C:\temp .. reboot hit F5 and choose command prompt, baypassing startup file , or something like that. Try this, boot from the floppy and when it says starting windows hit F5 and choose bypass startup files.
