always, ALWAYS lock the doors and windows. seems obvious but so many will leave a doorwall open when they wouldn't think of leaving their front door open. Come on, do you really think the thief won't think of checking the doorwall that he can see the 42" Plasma through?

Don't make it easy to see everything valuable in your house.

While I've never been all that worried about break in's before I am now for some reason. Area I live in crime is getting bad (not just the ghetto areas but everywhere). And for the first time I find myself thinking about excercising my 2nd Amendment rights. Afterall, Ken is only a couple of hours drive from here. can't be too careful with that one on the loose

seriously though I am considering a gun for home protection for the first time in a long time. I had never shot much before but I found that I take to it rather well

    Hi YoS

My Mom has sliding doors onto her patio and i bought her Wooden Dowels that fit in the slide channel and put eye-hooks at one end and a long string to use to hang on the door stop when not being used.

They work great and are cheap.

You can do the same with sliding windows as well.

The Auto detect lights are also cheap and effective, plus an inside timer she uses when away, to randomly switch on a couple of lights as well.

Good ideas minir. we always took old hockey sticks and cut them to fit just how you use the dowels.

    Hi Noevo

That would work great as well Noevo, if you didn't mind pucking around a bit.

Report suspicious persons in your neighborhood. I know who belongs here and who doesn't.

Keep porch lights on at night.

If you use light timers... use one on your stereo too.

Always lock your car. Park it in a garage if possible. Don't leave anything in plain view that somebody may want.

Speaking of locking the windows, most have those little tabs that you can pull out that stop it from going up past a couple of inches.
