    Generic Host Process Error

    Hello,
I am currently getting the "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem" for my laptop with SP2.
After I get this pop up all sound is disabled, and can't find any hardware and the skin of my computer changes to Classic which I can't change.

I've tried downloading the current updates for the problem but they don't seem to be working.

    This is my HijackThis log:

You can delete those, but I dont see anythign related to the host process error.

Try turning off auto updates and updating windows through windows update.

Thanks Yard for getting back to me and with the HJT help, but unfortunately turning off Automatic Updates doesn't seem to be helping the problem.

Your IP may be in a range of banned IP's, I get a lot of spammers and there isn't alot of filtering that I can do besides ban a range of IPs. Here is the information:

If you are one of the many people experiencing problems with svchost.exe using 100% of your cpu usage and then possibly crashing your pc you are not alone. This is an issue with Automatic Updates from Microsoft and they are aware of it and have posted a patch to fix it. It usually occurs when using Microsoft Update rather then Windows Update, it is caused when your pc is being scanned for updates for all Microsoft products rather then just Windows updates. The first thing to do is install the two patches Microsoft has released, the first patch is WSUS version 3 and the second is Hotfix 927891. Download and install both of these patches and then reboot your pc, then go to Microsoft Update and do all of the latest updates for your Microsoft products. This should fix the problem for the vast majority of users out there, if it does not fix things for you please post a HijackThis 2.0 and post a log here in the forums and I will try and help you resolve the problem.
