    Question Vodafone ES - Huawei E220 USB Modem 3G/HSDPA/GPRS/EDGE

    Hi,

    Just downloaded TCP/IP Optimizer and I'm impressed by the result,
    but I have the feeling that it can be better

    I'd be very thankful if someone with more knowledge
    take a look on the tests below.

    I run ad-aware, a-squared, ccleaner +++

    Do you think the result can be improved?

    1. What type of connection do you have? i.e. 56K, ISDN, DSL (PPPoE or not), Cable etc.

    GPRS - Huawei E220 USB Modem 3G/HSDPA/GPRS/EDGE
    In my area I have just GPRS coverage, so I don't have a choise (I can't use here 3G/HSDPA)

    2. Who is your ISP and what is your advertised speed from them? i.e. Cox.net & 3000/256 - this is advertised in kilobits per second.

    Vodafone (Maximum speed 3.6Mb but actiually I can use just GPRS at the moment - max. 64kbps)

    3. What are your current settings now? Do a TCP/IP Analyzer Test and copy and paste the results (remember to XXXXX out your IP address) here.

    No, The TCP Window is not 25200 as suggested by me. Try my settings again.

    Question

    Sorry to re-open such an old thread but recently I have had some
    problems with the connection (please, see the traceroute below).
    I tried to move the modem to different positions, but most of
    the time the traceroute is terrible. Any ideas what can cause this?

    The timed out and high ping times at the first 2 hops suggest your modem is receiving bad signals. Check your line for possible loose wiring or connection.

    Also, make sure the modem is placed a few feet away from all other electrical devices to avoid electromagnetic interference.

    The modem is placed on the best possible place (close to the window, no electrical devices, etc.). The signal strength is 5 of 5 ...

    Sometimes the traceroute isn't so bad (like this one now - see below), but
    most of the time it is like the results in my previous post above.

    If the pings fluctuate widely from hop 2 and beyond, but not at hop 1, I would suspect it to be some factor outside the building creating interference.over the air. But since your ping spikes from hop 1, meaning between your comp and the modem, I would suspect interference coming from some electrical equipment that turns on and off periodically, like an air-conditioner or in cold countries, a heat pump.

    Check to see if your ping spikes coincide with the operation of some electrical equipment at your place.

    Question What The Different On Vodafone Huawei E220 USB Modem 3G/HSDPA/GPRS/EDGE Setting

    Hello...Im new here, I using a Vodafone Huawei E220 USB Modem 3G/HSDPA/GPRS/EDGE 7.2Mbps, that something i want to ask..

    What different with this setting>>

    General Settings tab:
    Custom settings - check
    Modify All Network Adapters - check
    network adapter selection - your NIC
    MTU 1440
    TTL - 64
    TCP Receive Window - 25200
    MTU Discovery - Yes
    Black Hole Detect - No
    Selective Acks - Yes
    Max Duplicate ACKs - 2
    TCP 1323 Options:
    Windows Scaling - uncheck
    Timestamps - uncheck

    Advanced Settings tab:
    Max Connections per Server - 4
    Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 4
    LocalPriority - 1
    Host Priority - 1
    DNSPriority - 1
    NetbtPriority - 1
    Lan Browsing speedup - optimized
    QoS: NonBestEffortLimit - 0
    ToS: DisableUserTOSSetting - 0
    ToS: DefaultTOSValue - 80
    MaxNegativeCacheTtl - 0
    NetFailureCacheTime - 0
    NegativeSOACache Time - 0
    LAN Request Buffer Size - 16384
