Please post a TCP/IP Analyzer test and tell us what type of connection you have.

Have just found this website in the last week and is full of great information so i have started tweaking my internet connection but have found a problem
my mtu setting seems to be limited to 1440 according to sg analyser
even when i try
ping routeraddress -f -l 1413
in the cmd window the packets are not recieved till i drop to 1412 (1440-28 i believe is the correct value) so it must be a problem between pc and my dlink DSL-G604T
i have used both tcpoptimizer and drtcp, set them to 1500, restarted but get the same mtu limit
both programs report my mtu as 1500
router mtu under wan settings is 1500
i connect with a belkin 54g wireless dongle
have tested the connection at work with the company equipment (they have the same type of router) and it goes up further so dont think the problem is there
i read a post somewhere here that some software could limit the mtu so have included my hijack this list to see if anyone can spot anything, the only thing i can think could do this is 'getright' downloader but can find no mention on the net about it
(wf2k is my graphics card software)
thanks for your time and help

max adsl from fast4 (uk)
using pppoa
my dlink is uk but i flashed the firmware to V2.00B05.AU_20060711 which is the australian version (which was the latest one at the time)

Suggest you update your firmware to latest for the UK (not Aust):
http://www.dlink.co.uk/?go=jN7uAYLx/...G5/jQDkMVLFP8=
After that, save and reboot your DLink and log into it to set your MTU or MRU to 1500 and MSS to 1460.
finding out some info about that soon hopefully as regrading the firmware is a little more difficult i believe
anything else to check while i am waiting
thanks
with router and pc both set to 1500 i still recive websites ok but tcp analyzer still says i am only set to 1440
after thinking about it for a while the ping test to the router itself in cmd would surely override any software on the machine and as i am pinging my router there is nothing else to cause this limit except the router itself
does this sound correct
thanks, think i will try the uk firmware for a while and see if it tweeks ok and if there is any performance gain
