    why is it so sloowwww

    ok i have a few questions here, first im running with a compaq presario, it came with 256mb ram, i've upgraded to 1g, and i just recently baught a new video, ati radeon x1600 pro 512mb, when i put the new card in my computer seems to run slower, and i play world of warcraft, when im in an area around a lot of people im still seeing fps of 10-15, this is rediculous. My power supply is 250 watts, the requirements for the card is 300,which I didn't realize until after i baught it.. also, my cpu is an amd sempron 3000+ 2 ghz, I was wondering if the reason my comp and game both run slower is because of my power supply, or cpu, or a combination of both? and also, can i upgrade my power supply to a higher watt? and is it possible to upgrade my cpu? thanks.

    did you clean out the other vid drivers first?

    check for spyware ect?

    just running the usual questions first...

    and if you can post your specs like operating system, mother board specs ect... im sure someone that has much more experience in these matters will be along shortly...

    im kind of a noob when it comes to this stuff, but for operating system im on windows xp home, motherboard im not even sure, if someone could tell me how i'd find that information i'd be greatful, and as far as cleaning out the vid drivers, to be honest, the only thing i did before i put the new card in was took 1 thing out of add/remove programs...

    Yeah, all my drivers should be up to date now, I used the driver cleaner and cleaned out all the video drivers and installed all the ones for the new card. Still seeing 10 fps... why!!!

    I downloaded a program that tells me all the info on the stuff inside my machine, it say's the motherboard name is unknown, but its got 512kb L2 cache, 333mhz front side bus, it also says my BIOS is more than 2 year olds and I might want to update.

    This means a new motherboard and processor right?

    If i do this will it fix my problems, I also do video editing and i'm still seeing long render times, it seems the card hasn't made much difference than the old 128mb i had in before.

    Graphics on the game are a bit smoother but as for fps, not sure if there was to big of a change at all.

    I would think with your system it should run WoW fine.

    Bios can get old thats no surprise, little older cpu and board so ya that fits, dont worry about it.

    An underpowered PSU could be your problem but cant say for sure.

    I was hoping it would only be one thing, and the card actually says it required 350 watt power supply, and mines 250, so thats a pretty fair difference.

    As far as buying a new psu, will any one do? do i need to get the same brand as the one in my computer?

    The guy at radio shack told me its not possible to get a higher powered psu because it will fry my computer? I'm hoping this guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

    Ya radio shack guy is talking out his ass.

    You dont need the same brand, and not all are created equal.

    Is this a prebuilt system liek an emachine, dell, hp, or something, or is it home made?

    Theres a couple different sizes of PSUs, you just wanna make sure you get one that fits the case.

    Just need to know if you need an ATX or a micro ATX one.

    there's my model, while most of the specs are right, mine only came with a 60gb hd, and I also have an external 250gb so my hd isn't full.

    I'm not seeing anywhere that says my psu though?

    Yeah that wasnt too helpful.

    Measuring an atx PSU, its 5 1/2" long, 5 3/4" wide about, and just under 3 1/2" tall.
