Well If the timings on the value select are higher than the other corsair stick then you need to raise the timings in the bios.
I was wondering if I added an additional 1 GB PC3200 DDR400 P/N: VS512MB400 to my existing 1 GB Corsair CMX512-3200C2 how it would run. The added memory is value select.
Thoughts?

Since it's value select, I'm guessing it will probably have to get cranked up a tad. Does it effect the dual channel settings with 4 512's instead of 2 ?

It might default to a lower speed with all 4 slots filled. Check your manual.
