Well how do you THINK it's going to perform?

I mean really, how many of these threads do we have to see?

Yes, we get it. You're blowing assloads of money on superawesome parts. You KNOW it will work well. Okay?

I'm not gamer, my question was directed to CAT, I'm not even paying for it.

I found one motherboard but I'm still not sure.

This is hardware&overclocking board, and I can ask whatever I want.

How should I know how it's going to perform when I never used it?

And as it goes for assloads of money We are getting everything with 37% discount.

For a web server....wouldn't use a desktop OS...I'd certainly not want to combine it with a desktop that's used for daily duties. I'd go with a server OS..one aimed more at web services...and have it dedicated for web services...physically separate from my home rig. Slap on Apache or something.

Xeons..fine..not a biggie price diff anymore...

SCSI drives...because you'll be under heavy load..no matter how much RAM..you'll be hitting the hard drive..and SCSI still has superior performance for many concurrent hits.

Heavy web usage I'd want to be at a data center over a home connection also. Which will often limit your hardware choices..since you often pay by the "U"..size of chassis. 1U servers often referred to as pizza boxes.

    Thanks a ton !!!!!!!!!!!
    Emailing URL right now

Few more questions, it's pointless to put there some 8800 GTS or GTX card IMO.Which one to use then ?Some 256mb card ?

Also that motherboard is ok ?

I think he does have Apache and VMS.

He wants there 8gb memory, he prefers OCZ.

He has OC3 connection from Bell.

So That motherboard is not going to fit into ATX server case.

Oh yes I think he will buy 2 cheetah what Think is selling, and the rest is going to be SATA2.

I apologize I mixed up all my questions and didnt put them in order, SORRY CAT.

out of topic : Luckily my usb cable will reach and he told me I can use it for encoding here and there

Yeah honestly for a web server..any kind of server for that matter...higher end graphics cards go to waste. You often admin them through a console, or web browser, or remote desktop or some other remote app, SSH, etc. Heck a 4 meg PCI vid card is usually more than enough.

But seriously...separate any server that will be available on the public side (such as a web server, or game server)...from any PC that's on your local network...or even stand alone...and used as your own PC. Big big risk, and performance issues.

    ? in gaming forum.

Do you mean PCI-X or PCIe? PCI-X would be good for the scsi card.

    PCI-X
He just bought 2 xeons and some cheap video card and I chipped in few hundred bucks so I can use it for encoding.

He/We would like to OC it as well but it doesnt seems like we will be able to.

I was looking at the www.tyan.com website and also did some research and nada, correct me someone if i'm wrong.

If I were looking into this, I would be looking to manufactured systems. Dell, HP, IBM. I'd rather have a piece of mind with warranty on the hardware. Especially if I'm serving to clients (I wouldn't care for testing).

I second the server OS comment as well. Either a Linux distro that's been tuned or Windows Server 2003 Web (could go standard).

Ignore SATA drives. SCSI is the best option for longevity and performance. I've gone through many SATA drives in one of our SANs.

What will this be serving? Basic HTML? ASP.NET? PHP? Any backend DB?

It's up and running, thanks for suggestions.
Every piece of the hardware got warranty, i think it's 5+ years or so, like I said I helped him only lil bit just so I can use his oc3 for my 360
But not for computer, he knows my leeching habit

shell provider (bnc's) + PHP similar to ippowerweb

Thats all I know, everything else goes beyond my knowledge.

I could get bnc for free with maybe 2 BG but I'm with ex cheap shells provider for 6 years and I'm not going to change all my passwords and going through installing psybnc in linux enviroment again.

Yes he got SCSI HDD's more are on the way ...
