    XP -> Vista question...

    My laptop has XP on it and probably could use a format. Can I just format, then throw the vista cd in? (Didn't buy it yet, want to make sure I know what I'm getting myself into)

    Will I need my XP cd rom at all when installing Vista?

    I put the Vista cd in, restarted, booted from CD. Formatted and did a fresh install!

    I ended up doing the same thing when I couldn't find DriveScrubber 2.0 cause the stupid internet sites don't ever hold onto a old version of things!!! ARGGGGGGGGGG!!! sorry had to say it... still venting over that.

    Not sure why you consider the need for Drive Scrubber anyway. Try Eraser, it can be run on a disk and not affect any files. Pretty darn effective too, DoD compliant +.

    ehh drive scrubber cleans the whole drive and re-whipes with zero's.. I don't want it NOT to effect files.. I want the drive cleaned completely and its the best thing I've found well 2.0 was.. the newest version sucks and will only do for the drive you set it to when you make the disk. 2.0 didn't care it just did the clean and thats it. I'd love to find it..but anyways I'm jackin the thread sorry

    Delete the partition, make new partition, slow format, all set.

    I didn't think I'd ever say this, but I like it a lot! Awesome looking, I love the Aero theme, and the movie maker is 10x better than the one in XP.
