    Laptops can not ping

    Hi everyone,

Could someone please help? I have set up the home wireless LAN for two laptops as below:

    - modem: 192.168.1.1
    - wireless router: gateway, 192.168.1.2
    - laptop 1: XP Pro SP2, 192.168.1.3
    - laptop 2: Windows Server 2003 Trial version, 192.168.1.4
    - no wired, all laptops run wireless
    - DHCP enabled, automatic DNS enabled

Both laptops can access the internet and ping the gateway (of course). The problem is that the laptops can not ping each other.

Last week, I had both laptops on XP Pro and they could access each other. So I don't think the Sunbelt Kerio firewall on laptop 1 (with XP Pro) is the cause of the problem.

    Thank you for your time,
    Triet

Have you opened up both computers for a file sharing network?

I tried turning off firewalls and have file sharing on, but nothing improves.

    Check this:

    1. Double-click My Computer on the desktop.
    2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
    3. Click the View tab, and then select the Use Simple File Sharing (Recommended) check box to turn on Simple File Sharing.
