OS: Fedora Core 6 http://fedora.redhat.com/
The server is already assembled, and I just delivered it to a local Tampa DC today (Powermedium.com). They have multihomed bandwidth, and host most Wikipedia servers, among others. Will ask for some traces when it is up and running, hopefully later today.
Linux is user friendly, it's just picky about its friends...
Disclaimer: Please use caution when opening messages, my grasp on reality may have shaken loose during transmission (going on rusty memory circuits). I also eat whatever crayons are put in front of me.

Hell yeah... I'm kinda curious on how much faster the loading of pages will be over the old one.
I have to agree with MD. Fold under the name of MadDoctor, team 15 for the first year or two. In trade... I'll do something for you Philip.Originally Posted by MadDoctor

Nice system. (except for Fedora..I lean more toward bsd or debian for production servers)
I'm gonna mis the old datacenter, it's 10 min from my house. When I had high latency I could always walk to McLean and view my last post!
No one has any right to force data on you
and command you to believe it or else.
If it is not true for you, it isn't true.

What you doing with the old system??? I need one for training wheels.![]()

You're right on target... I'm a bit partial to Red Hat/Fedora, and wanted something cutting edge. Also, moving down to Tampa may be a bit of a tradeoff for latency, it certainly can't compete with MAE East, but they are connected to at least 3 major backbones, so I hope we'll be okOriginally Posted by TonyT

It was giving me a few problems, I'll bring it down for testing/OS reinstall eventually, once everything is transferred over and tested on the new box.Originally Posted by Lefty

... CPU time will not be an issue with 4 cores for sure, and we're doubling RAM.
Thanks Mark. I've had it for a while at my place and it's stable and fast so far, we'll see how it handles the real-world load soonOriginally Posted by Mark
