    Unhappy Cable Modem Losing Signal. Time Warner = Clueless...

    My cable modem has been losing its signal and disconnecting at random for a month now. Time Warner sent a guy who said it was the wiring in my apartment causing the modem to drop offline and that they had a guy who will come and pull a new wire.

    When that guy came, he said the other guy was wrong and my wiring is fine. He said the problem was between my box outside and their office so they would send a main line tech. Three workers have been here since then and they have changed out parts in an amplifier box at the back of my apartment complex, swapped out my sb5200 cable modem with an old ratty sb4100, and swapped out all of my coaxial wiring except what is inside the walls. All of this to no avail.

    Every time they come out they just mess with the box outside for a while and then they ping a site and then tell me if it does it again to call back. Are they idiots or is it that hard to locate where the problem is? Every tech they send is telling me something different.

    What should I do? Just keep calling and complaining? I would really rather not have to cancel my roadrunner for DSL...

    Here is my cable modem log and signal info if anyone can tell me what the problem may be. The modem is a Motorola sb4100. Also there are request timeouts every few minutes when pinging google.com while the modem IS connected. Is a timeout every now and then normal?

    Thanks in advance for any help. Sorry for the long modem log. I wasn't sure how much of it to post.

    downstream power is a bit high, 14! 061104085055 7-Information H501.2 HFC: Shutting Downstream Down, sound like there is an amp on the line that is not needed

    My three year old modem also suddenly started dropping signal every few minutes

    I have a Thompson:
    Status Code: Operational
    Software Version: ST52.03.00
    Software Model: a806
    Bootloader: 2.1.6d

    The log is truncated and horrible, but here it is nevertheless. The bit error rate steadily rises. other settings are on an ASP page which refreshes, and will not allow me to copy/paste from it. I have the manual, I need to hack this thing.
