There is no need to use both CableNut and the TCPOptimizer, they do the same thing, just choose one or the other.

I have run CableNut and so far everything works fine. My Problem is when I try to use the TCP Optimizer it does not allow me to choose my Dialup 56K U.S. Robotics V92 Modem. It only offers the Ethernet modem which I have disabled. My ISP is Bellsouth. I'm running windows 2000 Pro fully updated. I have Spbybot S&D, Ad-Aware SE Personal, and SpywareBlaster. All are fully updated. Firewall is Comodo. Antivirus is Avast. I've done the tcp analyzer and here it is:
SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer
TCP properties for IP = XXXXXXXXXXXX
Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; BellSouth/1.0.0)
Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address.
Your IP (68.212.107.146) appears to be behind a web proxy server (67.72.98.113) and results shown might not be for your system.
TCP options string = 020405b40402080a66de52710000000001030302
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1448, which is less than MSS because of Timestamps, or other TCP/IP options used.
Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 5840
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits (scale factor of 4)
Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 1460
RWIN seems to be set to a very small number. If you're on a broadband connection, consider using a larger value.
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):
Your TCP Window limits you to: 233.6 kbps (29.2 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your TCP Window limits you to: 93.44 kbps (11.68 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 58 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = ON
Note: Timestamps add 12 bytes to the TCP header of each packet, reducing the space available for useful data.
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0)
I have tried to follow the advice given in:
http://forums.speedguide.net/showthr...ght=56k+tweakS
When I try to use the TCP Optimizer I can't get the dialup as MNOSteele52 advised in step 6.
6. Download TCPOptimizer and put in the following settings:
Under the "settings" tab select "dial up" and "custom settings", in "network adapter selection" choose "dial up adapter". Then use the following settings:
MaxMTU - 1500
TCP Receive Window - 8760
MTU Discovery - Yes
Black Hole Detect - No
Selective ACKs - Yes
Max Dup ACKs - 2
Time to Live (TTL) - 128
TCP 1323 Options - uncheck both boxes
"Other settings" tab:
Max Connections per Server - 4
Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 8
Then select "Apply changes" and reboot to take effect.
Leave all other boxes blank, select save to registry and reboot.
Please Advise
There is no need to use both CableNut and the TCPOptimizer, they do the same thing, just choose one or the other.

I Notice that Cablenut has an update for their program.
The only differences between the settings are as follows:
Recommended by MnoSteele52
MaxFastTransmit = 6400
MaxFreeTcbs = 2000
MaxHashTableSize = 4096
Cablenut Update
MaxFastTransmit = 640
MaxFreeTcbs = 8000
MaxHashTableSize = 16384
What are the effects of the differences?![]()
To be honest I made the update and the other settings, the update was quite a while back so I would suggest trying these settings:

I have tried the new settings and so far they seem to working good.
