Please help me how to set "TCP Optimizer"

    Here is my data:
    OS-xp pro sp2
    ISP-SEEDNET Taiwan
    Dsl PPPoE-2000/256
    --------------------------------------
    SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer

    TCP properties for IP = 211.74.xxx.xxx ()
    Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1)
Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address.

    TCP options string = 020405a00103030101010402

    MTU = 1480
MTU is optimized for Windows XP PPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising MTU to 1500 for optimal throughput.

    MSS = 1440
MSS is optimized for Windows XP PPPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising your MTU value.

Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 131040
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 1 bits (scale factor of 2)
Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 65520

RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
    506880 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
    253440 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
    126720 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
    63360 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

    Your TCP Window limits you to: 5241.6 kbps (655.2 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
    Your TCP Window limits you to: 2096.64 kbps (262.08 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

    MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 54 hops
    TTL value is ok.

    Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
    Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

    IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0)

    ---------------------------------------------------

    Thanks

Flip radio button choice to "Optimal"...slide bar to what your download speed is rated at, check to see that MTU is set for PPPoE.

    Thanks for your reply!

I take it your file download is at 145 KB/s = 1160 kbps

First we try to see if your MTU can be increased to 1492.

Use the following custom setting with TCP Optimizer and then redo the TCP Analyzer test and post your new results:

    General Settings tab:
    Custom settings - check
Modify All Network Adapters - check
network adapter selection - your NIC
    MTU - 1500
    TTL - 64
    TCP Receive Window - blank
    MTU Discovery - Yes
    Black Hole Detect - No
    Selective Acks - Yes
    Max Duplicate ACKs - 2
    TCP 1323 Options:
    Windows Scaling - uncheck
    Timestamps - uncheck
    Advanced Settings tab:
Max Connections per Server - 10
    Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 20
    LocalPriority - 5
    Host Priority - 6
    DNSPriority - 7
    NetbtPriority - 8
    Lan Browsing speedup - optimized
    QoS: NonBestEffortLimit - 0
    ToS: DisableUserTOSSetting - 0
    ToS: DefaultTOSValue - 80
    MaxNegativeCacheTtl - 0
    NetFailureCacheTime - 0
    NegativeSOACache Time - 0
LAN Request Buffer Size - 32768
Then select "Apply Changes" and reboot to take effect

RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 14 bits (scale factor of 28)
Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 65535

RWIN seems to be an excessively large number. If you're on a line lower than 20 Mbps (that is not satellite), consider using a smaller value.
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:

Then select "Apply Changes" and reboot to take effect

Try these settings and download a 100 MB file and note your file transfer speed after the 50% download point.

Then use the following and retest again. Keep the one that gives you the better download result:

    General Settings tab:
    Custom settings - check
Modify All Network Adapters - check
network adapter selection - your NIC
    MTU - 1480
    TTL - 64

The first setting is better than the second (3 times testing )
The speed does improve about 15% than before.
Can change another setting to get more speed, afterall it 's up to 65% only Should it be reasonable for at least 80%. ( Please forgive me for my greedy asking )
    Thanks again

DSL speed depends on 2 conditions:

The distance of your comp to the ISP's central switch station.

The amount of internet traffic, usually high traffic during 7pm to midnight and low during 4 am to 7am.

You can test your speed again in the morning and see if you can get 80-85%.
