Red face HELP!!! My HD is wipe out

One of my partitions got erased. My friend did something and it's all gone. Not even in the recyling bin. Is there any software out there or any other way of retreiving the files. I'm running Windows 2000 Pro. Please Help!

chkdsk shows lots of free space. I've seen some recovery programs on download.com but they are demo's with only a few files being recoved. Is there a free one out there.

I think the recover programs only work if you take a snapshot of your system before you deleted whatever was on the system.

As far as I can tell, he deleted the files in error. He's only gone into Windows Explorer. After that bye bye to my files.

If all he did was to delete files then those files still exist ion the HD. BUT, they will get overwritten as you continue to use your computer. Best to shut down that computer and use another machine until you can get hold of an app to recover the files.

Most of these apps work well I'm told, but they are pricey.

    Does your friend have testicles?

If so, have you made a brief connection from them to your foot?

    No:......Why not?

Yes:.....Didn't it make you feel better?

Actually I find it hard to believe that it was unintentional.
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, and prejudices to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own for the children and the children yet unborn and the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.

Ok, here's the truth about "MY FRIEND". He is a She. She is my fiancee and we got in a fight just before all files went missing. She can take apart a computer and put it back together, yet she doesn't know what she did to loose the files. Geeeee, DELETE maybe. Anyway, isn't there anything that is free out there for recovering this?

Thanks for you help all. With the help of Warez, I've been able to find a software called Undelete 2.0 for NT/2000. I've recovered all of my files. After I recovered them, my fiancee admitted she deleted the files on purpuse. Women!

    Cool

I'm glad you got your files back. I'm going to look into that program.

Did she find your porn stash by chance?
