Feds cut off phone tax after 108 years

    http://www.usatoday.com/money/indust...x_x.htm?csp=24

Elimination of the tax will cost Treasury about $46 billion in refunds, lost revenue and administrative expenses in the next five years. That should be offset by higher tax revenue from a strong economy, Snow said.

I also wonder, if this isn't just smoke and mirrors for the upcoming election.

If I was president I would cut all taxes for people born in the 1800s.

Given that a lot of people are using cell phones and Vonage for long distance, I think this tax cut is probably in the same catagory.

I really have my doubts on the $15 billion quoted in the article.

How many of you are paying for long distance charges?
