GW Bush disobeys over 750 laws since he took office

33% and falling and yet he still stands as POTUS even though admittedly he breaks the law.
Hes spitting on the constitution while people argue about latin versions of the Anthem that weren't even written by a latino. Pulling the rug from under us and laughing just like he did at that Media dinner the other day..laughing right in our faces about what he and his administration does to us.

Our forefathers must be rolling in their graves

    Bush challenges hundreds of laws
President cites powers of his office
By Charlie Savage, Globe Staff | April 30, 2006

WASHINGTON -- President Bush has quietly claimed the authority to disobey more than 750 laws enacted since he took office, asserting that he has the power to set aside any statute passed by Congress when it conflicts with his interpretation of the Constitution.

Among the laws Bush said he can ignore are military rules and regulations, affirmative-action provisions, requirements that Congress be told about immigration services problems, ''whistle-blower" protections for nuclear regulatory officials, and safeguards against political interference in federally funded research.

Legal scholars say the scope and aggression of Bush's assertions that he can bypass laws represent a concerted effort to expand his power at the expense of Congress, upsetting the balance between the branches of government. The Constitution is clear in assigning to Congress the power to write the laws and to the president a duty ''to take care that the laws be faithfully executed." Bush, however, has repeatedly declared that he does not need to ''execute" a law he believes is unconstitutional.

Former administration officials contend that just because Bush reserves the right to disobey a law does not mean he is not enforcing it: In many cases, he is simply asserting his belief that a certain requirement encroaches on presidential power.

But with the disclosure of Bush's domestic spying program, in which he ignored a law requiring warrants to tap the phones of Americans, many legal specialists say Bush is hardly reluctant to bypass laws he believes he has the constitutional authority to override

Sickening? nah, the best jokes were on him. What else did he make fun of, dick cheney, talking to the press, all that? I dont remember a joke targeted at "all americans"

He's a bad president IMO, but that was still funny.

Not that he was targeting us, but the "I survived the White House Shakeup" and a few other little jabs at his misdoings that he got away with. I had to shut it off. Men and Women are dying in Iraq and he is joking around. I dunno about that.

Hmmmmm, I'm pretty sure that your miswording in your thread title was a mistake, right? The way it's read, it stating that he's broken 750 laws since he's been in office.

You're right Prey. Pie's statement is probably giving him the benefit of the doubt.. Realistically it's probably somewhere around 1100 laws.

    Disobey .
When you disobey a law like when you ran the Yield (Or was it stop sign) you broke the law and got a ticket. Disobeying the law is breaking the law, is it not? Please don't say that disobeying the law is not the same because you will legitimize all those immigrants you have been saying are breaking the law by disobeying immigration laws.

Can't you tell the difference between having the power to break a law, and actually breaking it? Claiming authority to do something, and actually doing it are not one and the same. Again, you phrased it incorrectly, I was just pointing out your mistake.

He has no power to break a law. We are not in a dictatorship. No one is above the law.

He is not breaking the law!

What this is really about is the use of signing statements to challenge new laws effectively giving his interpretation rather than using his veto power.

Bill Clinton objected to 140 laws while in office, no one is above the law, especially illegal imigrants who have not paid their taxes.
