I get emails like that from many different banks, ebay, and other institutions I'm not a member of. Welcome to SPAM. Thank goodness for Cloudmark.

Just be careful if you go to that link...remember there is still that one security flaw that hasn't been patched yet. That site might just take advantage of that flaw.

Um, it is spam. Anyone who clicks on a link that shows the IP address and not the domain name that is from a piece of SPAM email deserves what happens.

Yes Brent, it is everyones responsibility to understand the minutia of how the internet works. There is clearly no excuse for those saps that get thier idenity stolen and credit ruined by not knowing the difference between a spoofed address and the real deal. I mean the NERVE of these folks using the web for things without having the simplest idea of what HTML is or knowledge of HTTP or even HTTPS. The 'net really has sucked since they let all the n00bs on ARPnet.

Ummm I know but Amro said he was gonna go and mess with them. Just wanted to remind that there was still an open flaw in windows...no need to get your panties in a bunch.

There is also something called a software firewall and another thing called a router that can "act" as a firewall. Technology is so cool!!!!!!!!

I get a new IP every week anyway....

I would take that a step further - if you receive an email like that you should open a browser window manually and then go to the 'account management' function. If the email is in html format, what appears to be the link could just be the label.

for example - "visit speedguide and update your account - http:/www.speedguide.net
anything is possible - nothing is free
