Disable Onboard Sound Card in Dell Dimension

A friend of mine has a dell dimension 4650. He has installed a Layla 24/96 sound card but there is no sound coming from the sound card. I did some research and came to find out that the onboard soundcard might have to be disabled.

- How can i go about disabling the onboard sound card?
- Do I need to change some values in the BIOS?
- Is there a way to disable it from Device manager?

reboot computer.. when it starts loading tap F2 till it enters the BIOS...then run down the list till you get to the onboard sound.. disable and save/exit.

Make sure when you install it it checks for hardware you load the right drivers and such for it and that its cable from the speakers is plugged into the right spot too..I've seen some people put it in the wrong hole and think hmm bad card?
