    Uploads faster then downloads

My connection is wireless and I am suppose to be 1.5 up and down.

My ISP is a local company called gozoe

I am running Windows XP home edition

Download Speed: 1192 kbps (149 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1353 kbps (169.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

    TCP options string = 020405b40103030101010402
    MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
    MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 128480
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 1 bits (scale factor of 2)
Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 64240

RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
    513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
    256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
    64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

    Your TCP Window limits you to: 5139.2 kbps (642.4 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
    Your TCP Window limits you to: 2055.68 kbps (256.96 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
    MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 52 hops

    TTL value is ok.
    Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
    Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
    IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0)

try leaving the wireless router off for a few minautes see if that helps if not i'm not sure what to tell you since most of the time on cable or dsl if you have a higher upload it's a signaling probably mainly with cable though.

Also makes your network card is set to 100 full.

My card was set to auto I switched to 100

Download Speed: 985 kbps (123.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1360 kbps (170 KB/sec transfer rate)

Looks like it hurt it more then it helped it.

Do this network diagnostic test and post all results including the 'Statistics' and 'More Details' buttons below the test box:

This is the only abnormal result from your test report:

"There were 149 packets retransmitted, 85 duplicate acks received, and 121 SACK blocks received"

You have a very very high retransmission rate. This a sympton of your download slowdown.

I suspect the reason for such a high rate of retransmission is that your comp is uploading at the same time you are downloading. When bandwidth is occupied by uploading, signals to be sent out to the website servers telling them you have received requested packets could not be transmitted and so these websites retransmit packets to you.

You can donwload a netstat live meter from this link which shows down and upload traffic to check if this is true:

I installed the program but, I dont know what I am looking for on it.

I did a download test and the incoming and outgoing were both going at the sametime at about the same average. Is that what you are talking about?

During downloading, The meter will show the download speed in 3 readings - current Kbps, Ave Kbps and Highest Kbps. The meter also has 3 similar readings for upload.

Your bandwidth is 1.5 Mbps for down and 1 Mbps for up.

During downloading, there will be constant signals in uploads as well. These are signals of acknowledgements that your comp has received packets. But these upload signals will not use up all the bandwidth of 1 Mbps.

The problem comes when your comp is acting like a server sending out upload signals that are not related to your download acknowledgements and occupy all available bandwidth of 1 Mbps. Then acknowledgement signals cannot get through.

So use the meter to check whether your upload traffic is near 1 Mbps while you are downloading. If yes, then try to find out which software is sending out these signals by using the "netstat -b" DOS command.

If not, the cause for high retransmission is something else.

Okay, Lets see. I barely had my head above water now I'm at the bottom of the river.

If I am understanding you correctly, the upload is about half of the download at any given time. I am assuming that the incoming is the download and the outgoing is the upload.

As far as use netstat -b to find which program is causing it, Well I don't even know where to begin.

    Sorry for my ignorance.

To make things simple to understand the netstat -b results, close all instant msgr programs and just open your browser (eg. IE or FireFox) for downloading.

The netstat -b should only show your browser's name 2 times and the port numbers that it is using, one for incoming (download) and one of outgoing (upload).

If you have some other name(s) and not just your browser, and you did not open that program, then it may be a hacker's program getting info from your computer.

Wow...all these are waiting to send info out your comp.

Download, update and scan with SpyBot S&D EXACTLY as I explain HERE & Ad-aware EXACTLY as I explain HERE to remove any spyware then install and update SpywareBlaster to stay spyware FREE. YOU MUST USE BOTH AD AWARE & SPYBOT TO ENSURE YOU ARE SPYWARE FREE SINCE ONE FINDS WHAT THE OTHER MISSES. Spyware can and will ruin your connection and crash your pc!

For links to the various spyware programs go to this link:

I have both of those on my computer and updated and ran them both this afternoon and removed everything they found.

Is there anything else that I can do to help?

    Also scan at this link:

Did you also update your antivirus and personal firewall programs?

Do a antivirus scan as well.

Good. Check with netstat -b command again to see if you are cleared.

Then retest your speed and do the nitro test to check for number of retransmissions.
