TCP Optimizer discussion and trolling moved here.

My opinion is that optimizer works only with u. I have install it in about 20 differnet pcs........... and nothing works (I tried thousand values changes). See also my question posted at general dsl/cable forum. Nobody answered to my thread and ....... nobody will........ im sure ! I also think that this is only for advertising reasons. No bad feelings but this is the truth............. wasting our time !

I find this really hard to believe unless your looking for a HUGE difference.. you will notice slight increases but no major 1meg speed jumps. Not sure what your asking for out of this tweaking program but the Optimizer is setup good and takes advantage of some lost tweaks that microsoft never intented to do. you say 20 different PC's and nothing.. I say 40pcs and each showed a increase as its supposed to do. on everything from Win98 to XPpro. And I looked in the general cable forum for a question you asked and I haven't seen any that hasn't been replied back to. Ship me your computer and I'll tweak it for you if you don't feel as if your getting the job done.

    2 beautyfull girls........ ouuuuuaaaooooo !!!

    goodmorning 2 all broadbanders !

    .............................................well-meant.............................................

    1) The question i was set is: " Do you have any idea, why when i "" shoot "" the MTU from optimizer, deletes the whole dword - ProtocolMTU from registry? " ( see also " test it........ !!! " thread ).

    2) YES im looking 4 huge difference. Im living for-from that. Otherwise, what is the meaning of tweaking. Optimizer gives an increase of 15-20% ( only ) with sufficient time of working and enough luck(enough enough). Microsoft, did not forget ( or something ) to put those "forgetable" values. The reason that it didnt put them, is only one : THEY ARE USELESS. Anyway, u have 2 know that there are some quickly ways to improve tyour " image ", about 30 - 50%, in an hour, (About wasting time)

    3) Thanx 4 the proposal to tweak my pc, because i dont have so much time and i have 6 more for tweaking

    4) Basically there is not poor or rich RWIN ( see above= " forgotten values " ). RWIN is managed by TAN (Time Act Need), meaning, that if u r start a download session, after a while and when the server locks your priority, automatically windows is locking all the finest tolerable values. So simple !!! So......... no need !!!.

    5) To have more bandwith that u pay for, u have to keep 2 reasons:

    a) U MUST live at the same building with your ISPs MCR (Master Control Room). Actually i mean.......... same floor........... next door..... !!!
    b) Your boyfriend is working there (Ill believe this option only)... !!!

Yeah I knew something was up. Comcast did indeed increase my download speed to 6Mb however I wasn't getting 6Mb until using TCP Optimizer (to tune RWIN paramater). Do to having a shotty high latency broadband connection, XP was not using the best value for *my* connection (nor should it). XP uses the best value for a wide range of connections, a range *my* connection does not fit into.

So some users (such as myself) will see rediculous increases in speed.

Your right want about using rwin to pritorizing segments in a network. If a segmaent was using defaults however segment b which is more mission cirtical segment with a higher rwin they could get the priotiy without using load balancing. This could be setup via router ,or server.

Now with the self tunning stack it does work for some people not all ocassions if you are doing more pulling then pushing then why not open the pipe in this case window size, to allow more data to go though?? Since latency will always change on a network due to traffic if you are on a misson critical machine you need that priorty forget everyone else.

Nothing is wrtten in stone for rwin values that's part of the promblem it's up to interapation. With the optimizer I'm not sure why it's over righting that mtu value ,or just adds it in another place. Phillip would be the guy to ask about it. I'm not really sure why it would cause I don't program.

    Eh? Elaborate please?

Also, back to topic. Could you give us your IP's advertised speed that your subscribed too?

The only possible simulated "attack" from our server is a security scan, that is user generated, and has a clear disclaimer:

    http://www.speedguide.net/scan.php

If not, I don't know what you're talking about. Your attempts to troll against the site, the TCP Optimizer and the staff will not be tolerated, unless you can produce evidence to back them up. We respect people's privacy, and we do not "hack" anyone's PCs.

NO one is doing that or saying that why bother to post if you can't try to understand where the other person is comming from ,or better yet take the time to try to.

I don't get why you argue all thease so called negatives about the optimizer since the program didn't work for you how is this Sg's fault there is many factors involed with speed on the line. People have that choice to tweak or not to tweak unforuatnitly it doesn't help all people it does help a few atleast

    tcp optimizer help please

Hi all, i just joined yesterday so forgive me if this is in the wrong place.
My problem is that i downloaded tcp optimizer a few days ago and my speed increased dramatically, from around 800 to 2000 and more.
However, i am now finding that i am being constantly almost disconnected, i.e. the speed will go from 2000 to almost zero, then back up again, and this happens continuously.
When i installed tcp i simply set my speed (7200) modify all network adapters, optimal settings and apply changes.
I have only a very basic knowledge of computers, so dont want to tweak it myself without some input from experienced users, so if anyone can help i would be very grateful.
    Thanks for reading this.

what are you basing your speed resaults on. IF it's dipping like that it could be a ram leak belive or not had a faulty stick of ram that cuased simimlar resaults. It could also be a bad dsl filter ,ro just a faulty test.

Take a few traceroutes to a few sites paste them back here.

    Hi thanks for reply.
Firstly, i should have said before, that my speed was around 500 to 900 before using tcp. Before using tcp my speeds were very low, but constant, with very few times being disonnected.

Now as you will see, my speeds have increased greatly, but i am constantly losing connection almost completely and then regaining fast speed again.
My results from pc pitstop are good, but in between attempts i am getting messages saying "unable to test as no latency", so as you can see, it is going from fast to nothing and back again intermittently, it is the same when i am surfing, pages will load quickly and then "cannnot display page" i hope this makes sense.

to achieve these 6 results took 9 attempts as the "no latency" message appeared.
again hope this makes some sense and hopefully i can get a fix for this, as tcp does seem to be very good, thanks.

It still seems to have the same problem, i.e. fast down to nothing and back up again, thanks for any further help.

    MTU: 1460
MTU stays the same. I think MTU for mobile broadband (usb port) is limited at 1460.

Try the following with TCP Optimizer:

    General Settings tab:
    Custom settings - check
Modify All Network Adapters - check
network adapter selection - your NIC
    MTU 1460

    TCP Receive Window - 261280
    MTU Discovery - Yes
    Black Hole Detect - No
    Selective Acks - Yes

    TCP 1323 Options:

    Timestamps - uncheck

    Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 20
    LocalPriority - 1
    Host Priority - 1
    DNSPriority - 1
    NetbtPriority - 1
    Lan Browsing speedup - optimized
    QoS: NonBestEffortLimit - 0
    ToS: DisableUserTOSSetting - 0
    ToS: DefaultTOSValue - 80
    MaxNegativeCacheTtl - 0
