    Dell Inspiron 6000 - Ram

Hi Guy's - I have 1 gb of Ram comeing for my Dell 6000

The dell was shipped with 2 sticks of hynix 256 mb - irx16 PC2 -4200-444-12 Ram
    The new ram is 1GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) Notebook Memory Model KVR533D2S4/1G - Retail

Should I just run the New 1 gb Stick or should I run the 1gb and the OEM 256 Stick -

    Thanks

I'd go with just the 1GB stick, unless you really need the 256MB one.

why'd you go with a 1gb stick as opposed to 512x2, that way you could run it in dual channel? btw are you registered on notebookforums.com?

I run a gig stick and the OEM 256 in my Alienware, runs like a dream. Going to be ordering another gig here soon...

Because I am going to add 1 more stick of Ram GB- and yes I am registered on the notebookforums

I never like to mix memory but if I have a extra 256 mb and a open slot - I just don't want the new Ram to run slower then it should

If they're both PC4200 then the biggest difference you are looking at is CAS... More so with DDR2 than DDR, but I still think the boost from the extra 256 would outweigh the lost CAS (if there is any).
