    Oh My...Thank you so much whoever made this program...I have been working with my cable company for a week to try to figure out why i was only getting 1.5 megs down when I was paying for 3.0 megs down...I kid you not...I found you guys forum..I saw this program. I downloaded it an ran it ran the optimum settings for my connection..And ahh be danged if as soon as I rebooted my computer got back online and did a speed test 3.1 megs down..Freekin awesome..Whoever invented this one if you were in my town..My friend me and you would be eating a big fat steak paid for by me..You saved me from making more of an idiot out of myself...THANK YOU>>>>

    Thanks - works!

    Tried DRTCP, Cablenut, Tweakmaster, TweakDun plus other tweaks. This one works best. Found setting the MTU for PPPoE to 1452 - not the recommended 1492 - provides more stability (no dropouts) and more consistant speeds.

    the settings shown when choosing the optimal setup for my connection speed are less then wat my current values are.. so should is still apply them or should i retain the current ones as the internet may go slow after applying the settings?

    Latency times too high.

    I'm using the Sprint EVDO network for access and have the Pantech PX500 Rev A card but Rev A hasn’t been turned on in Buena Park (Los Angeles) CA but my upload and download times have been acceptable with signal strength between -71dBm to -83dBm but I think I can do better if my latency (ping) times were lower. I have downloaded and ran TCP Optimizer 2.0.3 which helped my speeds but latency times have always been consistently high and I'm looking for suggestions to lower those times. I'm using a 2005 Toshiba-XP(SP2)-1gb RAM and no spyware or viruses.

    Here are my numbers:


    Browser/OS = Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7
    Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address.
    TCP options string = 020405b40103030201010402
    MTU = 1500
    MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
    MSS = 1460
    Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.
    Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 256960
    RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits (scale factor of 4)
    Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 64240

    RWIN is a multiple of MSS
    Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
    513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
    256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4) <-- current value
    128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
    64240 (MSS x 44)
    bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

    Excellent program, but one request : could the Largest MTU tool be tweaked to avoid using 1125 or any other odd-length packets, as a known bug involving Intel cards and Cisco routers causes such packets to time-out ?

    i go to use the largest MTU option in the optimizer and it times out when sending 1456 bytes and fragments when sending 1476 - what does this mean?

    TCP Optimizer 2.03 problems...

    Hi,
    I just downloaded this program and when I ran it, a lot of the text is missing (labels) from the GUI screens(menu's). The buttons are not labelled. Almost all the selectable items are grayed out. I am using XP sp2. Any suggestions? I tried it on my Windows 2000 machine and the menu's have their labels.

    Question TCP Optimizer & Vista

    On Vista, the title bar reads Windows 2000. Given the fact the IP stack is rather different, is an updated version of TCP Optimizer needed/planned?

    Is there any real need to monkey with tweaking programs? IMHO, if you simply set MTU at 1500 and RWIN at 128480...your computer is fully armed, loaded and ready to handle anything Internet related.

    Tcp Optimizer

    Recently (meaning just last night) I had a service tech from Embarq trying to get my speed up to where I have been $$$$ for at 5000 kbs DSL...he even brought his laptop thinking it was my computer just to eliminate the possibility. Best he could do was about 3000....Frustrated but his time was up...end of the day..he left. After he left I miraculously found this forum and the TCP Optimizer WOW is the best way to explain myself Thanks to who wrote this program....I am getting 4700 consistently. GREAT TOOL!!!! Now I think I will charge EMBARQ!

    zatnkatel: We're planning on updating the Optimizer for Vista, just that the underlying tweaks are not yet available/tested. Vista is better optimized for broadband by default, I'd wait for something reliable before tweaking it.

    shoreke: You're right, those are the main settings, but some others help as well. Each setting in the Optimizer has its purpose for fine-tunning your connection - it's explained in the documentation, and some of the tweaking articles on the main site.

    yes i use bsnl(india)dataone broadband service.my modem is ut starcom(UT300R2U.
