    Question Vetern PC gamer opinions plz

    Could I please get some opinions for my new build, I want to get back into online gaming. Games Ive had my eye on are Far Cry, HL2, FEAR, BF2, COD2, as well as the ghost recons and rainbow six games.

    Athlon 64 X2 3800+
    2gig of Gskill Extream PC3200 Extreme
    MSI K8 Neo 4 Platinum Mobo
    WD SE 80gig HD 8MB cache
    XFX GeForce 6600GT 128MB DDR3 PCI-E X16
    WinXP Pro SP2
    52x CDRW
    16x DVD

    Heard good stuff about the the Gskill ram

    Only thing for gaming I would change is the 6600GT I would really recommend a 7800GT.

    The 3800 X2 and 2 gigs of ram are great, that cpu will last you a while but for those kinds of games a 6600GT is really scrapping the barrel especially for FEAR.

    He could get away with a 6800GT for now ...256MB

    either way he goes either the 6800GT or the 7800 he may need a powersupply update also. The 6800GT may use more power than the 7800 too.

    I've got a 550watt psu, so i think i'm covered in the power area. I didnt really want to spend more then 150 or so on video, thats why I went with the 6600GT, if it doesnt perform well I guess I could always ebay it and get a 7800GT.

    you're just not going to see high settings ..I ran BF2 with 128MB 9800Pro mid settings just fine on a 2.5 P4 Dell before I built my new one.
