Talking Win2k check this config out

UPDATED FOR DSL CABLE & PPPoE
DEC 19, 00 today for pppoe faster more stable upload and better with gamming

THE ENTRY YOU SEE HERE HAS BEEN UPDATED. THE ENTRY BELOW IS JUST AN EXAMPLE…

ALSO: Without the help and association with Cablenut and Cablenut.com
Plus the Hours of help from Tharris Merc this patch would not have been done to this point Thanks guy’s

This set is with the SG tweak, and some of my stew. It seems to be working well now, I hit my D/L limit (matched the my win98 machine on DSL)

there are speed examples for a PPPoE DSL connection as well as a Cable connetion with a 1500mtu

System requirements: Win2k machine. a working knowledge of the registry
feedback on this will help in building the file

Make sure you adjust the MTU to your connection it’s a dword entry
My Download limit before the tweaking was 95KB/sec After this set.
I peak of 350KB/sec average of but the realistic download on the PPPoE connetion is 200KB/sec total average tested on the Mcafee web site not the fastest site in the world
the average on Cable vary's from 200 to over 300KB/sec.

Ping before 128ms after 96ms. Since some changes now 90ms on the DSL connection
ping also came down on the cable connection..

Information on these entries can be gotten here http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/wi...innt/S7BFF.HTM

    NEW UPDATED
I edited it again to update it works even better than the first one
Finally, don't shoot me I'm only the ????
YES FOR CABLE, DSL & PPPoE
The TcpWindowSize is a set value to its maximum
    this is why http://support.microsoft.com/support.../Q263/0/88.ASP
If you need to make adjustments

The GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize / MTU / TcpRecvSegmentSize can be adjusted to meet your connection size. Also this report goes just as the report say’s however in the Cable patch it has been set to the higher value again this seemed to work better for tharris and merc If you find a different TcpWindowsize that works good on your connection please let us know...

Its for DSL the only to adjustments you need to make to have it work on cable is the MTU and the MSS and the MSS setting may be out in left feild but its not hurting it it seemed to help it.
I'm still trying to get a little more out of it I just went and D/L the service pack 3 for wordperf 2000 and got that in about 7 minutes where before I was getting it in about 14min

There was an error in the first patch I updated it and have no idea how it got that way all I can think of is that its win2k
Please if you got the first one move the cachetimeout from the top of the file to the bottem or go get the new one

MaxMSS is not valid in Win98 or Win2K. Why do people keep putting it in there? Just look at tcpip.sys or vtcp.386. All of the possibilities are clearly visible. Anything relating to MSS does not exist.

Tim why does this bother you so much if you don't like the entry in there just remove it from the file if its not a valid entry it won't make any difference to your machine win2k will just pass it over.

heres a challange you come up with a setting that will work better than this one then I'll pull the info here and remove the beta patch from my site

    HAD TO EDIT

the actual setting in the network neighboorhood for the PPPoE adapter
I have mine set to 1452 that seemed to help don't go crazy with that one if you want try lowering it 2 at a time to the best frame size for yours.
One of the reasons that I use the lower 1425 or 1424 is to get a little cleaner ping besides the fact that some of the techs at My ISP run a much lower setting down around 1410 to 1390 of TcpRecvSegmentSize
keep in touch I really want to know how this works out for you

Danny looks like you put in a lot of time on these tweaks. And thanks for the link to the TCP/IP Transport Entries.

The tweaks didn't do anything to improve my speed because I'm butting my head against an overloaded cable system. My ISP is ispchannel.com and they get my vote for the worst ISP in the country - bar none. The caps are set at 500 down / 100 up, but anyone that gets more than 300 down/80 up is lucky. They have disabled the ICMP protocol so that no one can use ping or trace route (at least in the Mobile, AL area). Their service outages are legendary - 3 or 4 days at a time. No one even keeps track of outages less than 24 hours. Its like living in a third or fourth world country. BUT!! the prices are cheap $35/mo including the modem - now if I could just get some use out of the service!!

the TcpWindowSize has been fine from the start so far.
Like I have stated I need input to get it right

I updated the the file there has been a noticable improvment in it

If your on cable you will want to adjust the GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize to try is 373760
    MTU to 1496
    TcpRecvSegmentSize to 1456
    DefaultMSS 1456
    ALL ARE Dword settings

Well I know somones D/L this patch.
    no input yet

there are changes and now it fly's

    here are the change's

    "DefaultMSS" "as been removed"!
I know that will make someone smile?

"LargeBufferSize set to 4096 has been added and has made a real good addition
    Size/Small/Medium/Large set to 3
both of these are Dword entries

Best speed before these entries 1920.0kbps down and 300 up now I.m hitting peaks of 2400.0kbps and a average of 2120.0kbps
    I pay for a 1.5Mb connection

Now all I got to do is apply this to the patch somtime today. When I do you will have to applie the return to default patch first to remove the DefaultMSS entry or just take it out manually. This is only if you used this before with that entry.

I am also looking for someone to work with me on this that is on cable
No I have not blown up the OS yet

that you've discovered & post it up here in Reg entries? Thanks.....
