Credit Card Hassles (rant of the day)

Well.. here is a rant of a timeline proportions..
    Start date - 9-19-05
I recieved a lovly letter in the mail from Capital one. This letter stated that since i had not used my card since i got it and all the balance on the card was the annual fee and the late/finance charges associated with it. They were going to waive the fee and all charges PLUS increase my card limit by 500$. Only problem. I had the use the card to put it all in effect, quite a simple way to deal with it. Mood -

    9-25-05
I find out about a concert or 2 that my girlfriend and I want to goto. I go online place an order for tickets. I use this card cause i think it would be a great way to use the card and put the new terms into effect. Great idea m'thinks.. until. Card declined.. ok.. no problem.. probally something I have to do at a more personal transaction location. So we go out to get some gas, snacks, and power drinks. Card Declined, so I get home and make a call. Account suspended... I try to get out of the automated system to talk to someone.. get put on hold for about a halfhour, then i hang up cause i'm gonna figure this all out on monday.. Mood -

    9-26-05
I call Capital One yet again.. this time i get to a person. I explain the letter to them and they tell me to make a payment, yet the letter states that i wont have to pay those charges if I just use the card once. The rep on the phone is very demanding to get my money from me.. I ask to talk to an account specialist, he tells me its pointless to talk to them as they will just transfer me back, i tell him its my time, i'll spend it waiting if i must and just transfer me... 5 mins later im disconnected.. I call back, bypass everything as fast as i can, get a new rep on phone, they start to talk to me about how much i owe them, and i hush them with asking them to transfer me to account services. 2 mins later im on the phone with a nice lady and i explain everything thats happened so far and that i need to get my account usable again so i can use it and thus have everything happen that this letter states. she understands and then proceeds to waive all late and finance charges which left only the annual fee. she said it would be a few days and i should check up on it wed/thurs. I agree and then hangup. Mood -

9/28/05 - That following wednesday, I followup on her actions. Indeed all past due charges are waived BUT the account is still suspended. I get to a rep and he says the system is still processing it all and should be fully cleared by friday-sunday...

10/3/05 - monday - I gave them an extra day to process everything and also wanted to go though and take care of some stuff as im moving and need to be out by this upcomming sunday and i needed time to pack sunday.. Thinking the card is active already i go and use it to get some gas.. WRONG still not working.. So I call them at a little before noon. Full Cell phone battery and nice comfy car front seat.. Im glad for both as this became a VERY long call.. For starters there is a new "late" fee, the account is suspended again and i get the same people demanding money. I get transfered to account services I get someone that is looking it all up and finding out whats going on when we get disconnected. (my Girlfriend was spam calling me and kept beeping in he though i hung-up or was disconnected and hung-up, dumb call waiting beeping) I call back, get transfered again.
.................................................................................................... ...................................... 1hour later, I have a friend drive us back to my house, I grab my house phone and call them up. Explain my situation to collections again, they send me somewhere else, not account services just "another department that is handleing my account", I explain it all to them and they transfer me to Consumer Relations.. Now im hearing stereo from the same EXACT hold music (each departement seems to have a different hold music) On my house phone i get a nice lady on the phone and she says there is NO record of them ever sending me a letter like that. I tell her all the details of the letter, word for word, tell her all the info on it and that its all for me and my account that i'm dealing with. She puts in a formal complaint and tells me it could be up to a week before everything is resolved. She puts in a request for a limit increase as the letter states it would have done and I get a fax number to fax in a copy of the letter i have.
total phone time on this day to Capital one.... 2 hours 12mins..

10-5-05 - Today... I call to check up on everything to see how the status of everything is going.. Im informed they are still looking up the details of my issue, they got my fax and the general corispondence dept has it atm.

    fun times...

normally logic would of kicked in by now and told them to shove off.. but Im in this for the fun of calling every day and having a good reason to hastle them. That and according to my credit reporting agency monitoring service they sent ANOTHER neg after me.. so its on now.. I worked my a$$ off to get over 650.. and now im under 500.. so now i have to call them and have them clear up everything.. If the letter states they are waiving everything then that should be held true for all things related to it they are waiving..
PROS - get to hasstle a credit card company and maybe mold them and my account into the way i want it to work out.. so far i've gotten a lower fixed rate, and waived fees..
CONS - they are sending my credit rating to hell in a hand basket.

BTW Credit rating under 500 = no credit cards unless i beg for them..

As for the Tickets.. They are going on my discover card tonight, They are the ones that have helped me in the past and I've never had an issue with them. Gonna call Capital one and yell at them a bit since I couldn't get the seats we wanted cause thier offer issue. See what else i'll get...

You never know what you'll get unless you hastle them.. and I got proof that all these hastles are thier fault.

little background, got this card as an emergency card as i expected to be needing it soon, got the card and activated it and prepared to use it.. well.. the emergency i expected never happened and i took the card out and forgot it. I've had cards with annual fees in the past.. 60% of them never charged me the fee till i Used the card. 25% charged me the fee but never had late fees come from it. 15% did charge me, got me on one late fee.. In the later two there they would cancel the card after 2 billing cycles if i never used the card and never paid the annual membership fee..

New card, same customer service. Once something like this happens, it doesn't matter who the company is(Cap. 1, Providian, Chase, etc..), you'll still get the same run around.

No problems here at all. Only problem was 1 late fee, but it was my fault. Of course I don't use it every day or really that much, usually my bill is only $20 - $250 and it is paid in full.

Me either. But I do know that's it's a total headache getting them to do anything positive once they F up. See it all the time with borrowers.

Drop this card once they clear up the credit issue, and try to find one without an annual fee. If you use Bank of America, I know they offer one -- annual fees are horrible, and you want to stay away from those if you can.

Time to start threatening them with filing a compliant to the BBB and the state attorney general. That usually get CSR's to start doing something.

Ok seems the Resolution is complete... gonna give it another day but from what im hearing from them.. I have a credit Balance (as in they owe me) 97$ and everything from that offer has gone through as forecasted.

Doubt the credit balance will remain as they will probally see the paper trail and clear it up, but I'm not concerned about it. if they are willing to pay me for my time then they are doing a good job of it.

as for my credit rating.. They said they are mailing out the requests to correct the situation but one negative will remain and I will not contest it as it was a 30day late fee on the member fee.. they did say that they normally cancel accounts before a 60day late fee on member fees..

Has anyone here had any experience with Spammy as a gay lover? He promised to tell me my fortune, but left me with a pair of I Ching balls.

You fail at spam, even without taking into account your other posts around the web ("I've been using it for a few months now and its worked out great for me." being one such example).
