i hope i post this in the right forum section pls move if its not the right section.
ever since i got my cable hooked up about a year ago it has been hooked up through USB.. from reading thought thread.. people say it is better throught the ethernet for better speed. i did some test from speakeasy.net and im getting like 4139kbps download and 361kbps upload. hopefully switching to ethernet will make it faster. the problem is everytime i try to connect through ethernet it keep saying aquiring addressing and then it doesnt work. i tried turning off the firewall and still the same thing. my driver for the modem is the latest version. i have comcast and my modem is a scentific atlanta dpc2100. im running on windows xp home edition SP2. pls help!
you don't the usb driver installed when making the new connection i say remove the driver first and run the network setup wizard in my network places then trying truning the modem off and the computer off
trun on the modem again wait a few seconds then trun on pc

well at leas t your "sorta" works hooking up the sb 5150 on the ethernet card LOCKED my comp up all together. No matter what I tried. So its usb for now.
The only thing I can think of is that the nic I bought wasn't too expensive ($29.00cdn). its a Dlink. Well hope your situation worksout better
