Do you just want Dial UP or Broadband? Some areas now have Broadband Over Power Lines (BPL) too. I know Pittsburgh Pa,Houston TX,San Diego CA,
are either inplemented or are going too very soon.

I dunno about that one man...Its not that fast and Its wonky. Bouncing off the sattelite has its bad points. Its also expensive.

Have you looked into DSL or Cable? If you are in a Rural area and don''t have them available I'd look into BPL before committing myself to Sattelite and see if its due in your area. Since it travels over the power lines its just a matter of plugging a special modem into the socket anywhere in your house and *Poof* you are online @3Mb. Its been developed so that everyone has access to Broadband.

    as an addendum:
Cable blows Sattelite out of the water, and DSL depending on the plan and the distance you are from the CO (Central office) will as well if you have a good signal.

There were a few letters missing from your sentence..I didnt understand.
but when you said you were too far away I got it.

You should be 8000 feet or less away from the CO for verizon to be any good if Im not mistaken. Im not sure about their new services that are rolling out tho.
There are other DSL companies that can handle more than 8000feet away tho. Covad has been around for a while and they used to have pretty good service above the 8000ft mark. Northpoint as well but they were expensive. I haven't resold DSL in quite a while now since I began reselling Cable here for Time Warner. Things might be a bit different as far as pricing and service.
If you can get cable..jump on it.

wow its used to be a LOT cheaper. They are SDSL mostly which is the same speed in both directions and Static IP as well , instead of dynamic. Thats a big jump from what they used to be...it was about 62.00 a month before.
Sorry man. Maybe the other guys might have an idea?
