Prayer request please for the remaining family members of my friends killed.

Four of my friends were killed last night in a tragic automobile accident which is still under investigation at this time. They were in the vehicle that burst into flames. Steve, Lisa, their daughter Tiffany and her boyfriend Jesse...were all trapped in the car which exploded into flames..

My prayer request if for their two remaining sons left behind by this horror. I cannot even begin to grasp the pain these two must be enduring...an entire family...gone in a heartbeat. One of their family mottos was....live and love each day as if it were your very last...it very well might be.

I will miss you guys so. Know you were and are loved and missed by so very many here on this side of eternity....your kindnesses, love and support for others will forever be your legacy...rest now in the knowledge that your work here was done...and you were needed elsewhere...for you are not gone...you are just on yet another mission.

    Fiery collision kills five
Highway 273 accident involves three cars, engulfing one in flames

    July 25, 2005

Five people died in a fiery traffic collision on Highway 273 at Canyon Road on Sunday evening, Redding police said. The accident forced the closure of the highway in both directions for several hours.

The crash occurred about 6:50 p.m. when a car traveling south on Highway 273 "at a high rate of speed" struck a car carrying four people that was turning left from Canyon Road onto northbound 273, police Sgt. Craig Kinneavy said. The two cars hit a third vehicle before coming to a stop in the northbound lanes. The car with four people inside then burst into flames, trapping the occupants, police said.

The driver of the southbound car died at the scene, Kinneavy said. Witnesses said he was male.

Witnesses said the southbound car appeared to try to avoid a red light by going around the center divider before the accident. Kinneavy said police are still investigating the circumstances of the crash.

The driver of the third vehicle, Jerry Niles, 30, of Portland, Ore., was not hurt. His car was waiting in the northbound left-turn lane of Highway 273 when the crash occurred, police said. The two vehicles traveled about 20 feet past his car, witnesses said.

The Shasta County coroner's office was called to identify the victims. No information about them was available late Sunday.

Niles said he had been visiting his family in Red Bluff before his car was struck in the accident. "It's starting to hit me more and more that I'm the (only survivor)," he said as he stood on the roadside looking toward the two bright red tarps covering the burned vehicles.

Anderson residents Lisa Whitchurch, 28, and her daughter Kirsten, 9, were approaching a red light in the southbound lane of Highway 273 when the speeding car passed their vehicle.

"They were going about a 100 mph when they passed us," Whitchurch said. "It shook our car." Lisa Whitchurch, a certified nursing assistant, pulled her car over and got out thinking she could help, but the car was consumed in flames, and no one could get near it, she said. "I just feel so bad. There was nothing I could do to help."

Both lanes of Highway 273 were closed until nearly midnight as various agencies -- including the Shasta County Sheriff's Department, Redding Fire Department, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, California Department of Transportation, California Highway Patrol and Redding police chaplains -- helped at the scene. People attending a nighttime concert at Win-River Casino were diverted onto Canyon Road as they left, police said.

"The driver's side of the gray car was completely pushed in almost to the passenger side," said Alisa Dearman, a pedestrian who witnessed the wreck. "The tires were burned off."

Thank you Debbie. I am just in a state of such unbelieveable shock at this point...and I feel totally helpless to the family...I have contacted one of the remaining sons..who calls me Mom2...I am on my way there now to see how I may be of assistance. How do you help a situation like this??

Thank you triniwasp...I am sure the family appreciates this so much...I will be printing out any responses to this...and sharing with them. I will be passing by the very intersection where this tragedy occurred...and another friend has requested me taking her with me...which I will honor...and pray for the strength to help them all through this.

And I was whining about a broken hand...Lord forgive me!

Thanks guys...you are so special to me..and I have no clue what I would do without your support and caring..a special thanks to Lefty...when my faith apparently at the moment was damaged severely and he so kindly responded to a private message.Another friend of mine..and of the families..I knew would be in need somewhere along the line today..asked a favor..and of course I could not refuse..wanted me to drive her to the accident crossroads..which I did..and that is when the total reality really hit me...besides all the burned area..and there was a lot..there was still also fresh blood stains along the highway..I am still with one of the remaining sons...who is now sleeping...the other remaining son is on vacation in the high country...and we have not been able to contact him of yet..

The boys, (Matt and Cory) wished me to convey their most heartfelt thanks for your caring responses...as do I as well. Thank you ever so much for being the fantastic support team that you are. Cory was located and informed late yesterday and is now home with his brother. Several friends will be gathering at the home this evening paying their final respects. The link I am adding here...says so much about who they were and what they were about. I thought you might enjoy a bit more insight about them...it is so true.

Thank you all...ever so much again...and for being there for me as well.
