What are some examples of these different "defragging methods?"

Hi AceFireball, ghost, Sava700, YARDofSTUF & Cabledude
AceFireball
Fast as can be. Even if it is not better than Diskeeper, i myself will use it more frequently due to its speed and therefore probably gain more benefit from it.

It is the project of Mark Russinovich of Sysinternals

Thats encouraging Sava700...Thanks for the input

In part it is YoS, but i think??? it was taken to the next level by him. This because it sure doesn't act like the Native MS Defragger.

I still haven't found a defragmenter that moves the pagefile.sys to the beginning of the drive.
Best thing I have found is PerfectDisk which moves the files used in booting to the front of the disk. I would still like to make swapping as fast as possible by having pagefile.sys at the beginning of my 2nd physical disk.
Minir,
Thank you so much for posting this proggie, it has saved me considerable time. I usually start it at night and let it go while i sleep, now i can do it as i am doing my reports and it is done before i finish the reports.

Hi YARDofSTUF, purecomedy & BaghDaddy
YARDofSTUF
Yes whatever he did, he did it in a hurry

I believe Diskeeper does this as well purecomedy? Me i find that this Defragger is so fast that it is more user friendly and seems to pickup the pace by making the Files contiguous.

BaghDaddy
That seems to have been the standard routine of most of us BaghDaddy. Set, Snooze and get back at it in the morning.
I would like the ability to set this one for All Partitions, but i guess you can't have it all.
I use his Page Defrag as well which also seems to help.

I set it to function at every Boot.

Thanks Fellas and do have a delightful day

Norm would love this fast little tool. DOS prompt, DOS screen and fast. Love it!!!!!
Although it might have some of the internals of an existing defrag program, it looks and feels different… enough that I like it over others.
There is something to be said for packaging a product so it appeals to the masses. Be they the DOS masses.

Good Morning Lefty, zooner, MissTynker & MadDoctor
Thanks to you all. Pleased it seems to satisfy your defragging requirements. I'm using it as my standard now, having uninstalled Diskeeper for it. I like the speed and the File Defrag as well.
Have a fantastic day Everyone.

From what I can tell it does not get moved. I recall that unmovable files have a certain color on the graphic that shows the position of files on the drive. The unmovable files would include things like pagefile.sys and they never seem to snug up to the beginning of the drive.Originally Posted by minir
If I had any websites set up where I could upload a picture of my defrag window I could show you.
I clicked on the bottom choice of Power defrag , it did its thing , but I went into MS Defragment and clicked on analyze and there were Red spots (Fragmented files) all over the drive. I dunno if MS Defragment chart is accurate or not.

Hi purecomedy & Pie
purecomedy
I could well be mistaken in that purecomedy ergo the ? i put there as i was not positive it did that, though i thought it might have.

Pie
If memory serves Pie i did the same thing and ran each first over a couple of days. It showed some fragments, but then that was not all that unusual as i found them prior simply using Diskeeper on its own. After a couple of passes though it seemed fine to me. They i think have different ways of doing the defragmenting?
I'm no expert on Defraggers to be sure and will have to leave that up to others more qualified here to answer that for you.
I have though Uninstalled Diskeeper as i have found the Powerdefragger doing a good job from the way my comp is working and being so much quicker i am using it more frequently which i think may offset any differences?
