There are all sorts of classes for hardware and networking. People I know tend to have a few certs. A+, Net + all the microsoft stuff, a few have gone as far as Redhat. Talk to your advisor they will hook you up with programming classes. Stay away from Java till your ready. Your options are wide, just look around and ask advisor. Good Luck

Really depends on your school. At my university CS 101 was an entry level computing class (ie. here is the keyboard here is the mouse)...the next class was C++.

if you get the a+ and the net+ or a cert that goes along with some of the topics in your degree program you can get applied credits which means no class just the credit, at some schools it depends on the program at the college my school has the degree along with the cert tranning

certs is a+ Net+ CCNA, Mcsa, MCP Secuirty Plus, Oracle if want to take it for an elective maybe the MCSE if you want to learn more on your own

colleges most of them want you to graduate get the degree and get the certs on your own if you look at your 2yr schools some 4yrs are doing more cert and degree
