I'm thinking of getting a new computer, thoughts?

These are the parts I'm considering selling:

    p4 3.0c
    1gig (4x256) pc4000 giel ultra
    leadtek 6800gt agp8x
    gigabyte mobo

Here is what I'm thinking of replacing it with:

    GeIL Ultra 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 500 (PC 4000) System
MSI K8N Neo4-F Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Winchester Integrated into Chip FSB Socket 939 Processor
    POWERCOLOR Radeon X800XL 256MB GDDR3 PCI-Express x16 Video Card

I figure the upgrade will cost me about $150, after i sell off my old parts.

    any thoughts?

Sounds like a decent upgrade...selling locally you should be making money off this upgrade

i would wait for the Venice core cpu's, they may over clock way better and have a better memory controller. i may even upgrade to one if so, even though i just bought my cpu a month or so ago.

any idea on the price you are going to ask for the video card, i have been wanting a new one, but the prices are not dropping to my level just yet.

I concur. I think I am going to attempt to sell my memory, upgrading my rig to 2gigs (2x1gig)

Still thinking about the rest. I paid $420ish for it off ebay because they weren't available anywhere else yet. It's listed on ebay at $339, so I figure I can probably get around 290 for it. (If I include a picture of myself in a thong with it)

The X800XL isn't really any better than the 6800GT, if at all. Obviously the reason you're changing over is 'cause the 6800GT is AGP and you'll be needing a PCIE.. But don't expect higher framerates with the X800XL.. On the other hand, they shouldn't be too much lower if at all, and the image quality should be better.

I've got the MSI K8n Neo4 platinum, it's a nice mobo. There's all kinds of overclocking options available in Bios, and I've had no problems with it whatsoever.
